    Whats Your Squad Look Like?

I sold my blue bat (no idea what it was) but got 6700 for it. Add that to the 5k I had from the pre-order and I decided to buy some players to fill out my thin team I was working with 11,000 and had literally nothing to start with (except Marte and Familia). I got Harvey as a reward (who is way better then the 82 he's rated) and I picked up, Hosmer, Perez, Givens, O'Day, Kipnis, Jones, Cobb, Giles, E Santanna. Nothing incredible, but these are some good value players that will help bridge the gap while I'm building my team.

Marte (87) - Has incredible speed, I struggle with his contact. I can't seem to get quality hits with him. Good defense in the outfield.

Kipnis (87) - This is a great value card. I paid a hefty price for him (6000) but he's a favourite of mine. Guy is a great hitter, solid contact with some pop and decent speed. He's by far my favorite player thus far.

Hosmer (84) - This guy was DIRT cheap. I picked him up for 1400 which is an absolute steal. He's a really solid fielder, which is nice at first base since a lot of them are weak, He mashes right handed pitching but I've hit lefties pretty well too. For the price, pick him up.

Story (78) - Great Hitter. He has the option to play third, which is where I play him since his defense is subpar especially at shortstop. He more then makes up for it at the plate. His 78 is because of his defense, he's a strong hitter and plays fine at 3rd.

Perez (84) - Catchers are going to be over priced this season. The only really highly rated ones are Posey and Lucroy (both Golds) Perez falls into silver. I like him because of his defensive abilities, combined with decent offense. Good look running on Perez, I don't think I've allowed an SB yet. He's average at the plate, but for a Catcher he is serviceable. If you don't have a solid catcher, get one now... I think prices will go up.

Jones (83) - Another great value pick up. I bought him because I saw him for around 800. He's a bit better then Griffey (Griffey can't hit lefties) and provides good range in the outfield.

Reyes (80) - I need to upgrade here. But Reyes is serviceable in the meantime. He's a switch hitter who has good contact against righties and lefties, he can run a little and plays solid defense. This was one of my pre-order cards.

Pederson 70 - Gold mission, have to get 40 hits with him... which is tough because he sucks... Once I achieve my mission with him I'll be playing Griffey in this spot.

Thats my lineup (I'm pretty happy considering I only pre-ordered 10 packs and have played only about 5 games) I've also got Griffey, Bradley and a couple other semi useful bench players (Logan Forsythe is a great pickup as he plays all positions).

    My rotation needs some work.
Cobb (84) - He actually hasn't pitched for me yet, so I can't really comment.
Harvey (82) - This guys a diamond in rough, if you need a value pitcher pick him up. Fastball around 97, good control and some off speed options. Really keeps hitters off balance.
I have someone who is an (80) but I can't remember for the life of me
Santanna (79) - Another solid option, nothing overpowering or eye catching, but solid pitch selection with good control. He's usually not going to win you game, but he won't lose them for you either.
Lirianno (78) - I have about 6 other pitchers that are rated the same. I like him because he's a leftie and he has some decent movement on his pitches. His mechanics and windup are a bit unusual, so some people seem to have trouble with him. Another player who came with my pre-order packs.

And my Bullpen is in good shape, I don't recall all the names but

Givens - This guys is killer on righties, his slider combined with his release point will get you ALOT of strikeouts. I use him against strong right handed hitters late in games.

O'Day - Another solid option, his delivery causes a significant change, use him as a first option out of the bullpen. The different look and lower velocity will take opponents a bit of time to adjust to. You might be able to steal two innings with him.

Giles - Just a guy who throws hard. High fastballs are coming in 99+ mph I use him after O'Day to once again mess with the other hitters timing.

Familia - He's a strong closer. This was my best pre-order player, my only Gold. There are better options out there, but I'll be using him for quite awhile as the upgrades on him are expensive.

Right now, I am fielding Rookie, Breakout and Hardware batters and Rookie pitchers, because I want to get those missions completed.
Bought 50 packs, managed to complete 7 collect 15 players missions, received rookies from it.
I am playing vs CPU and Conquest, those players rated in 70s are enough to net me wins on lower difficulties, as I prioritize missions and collections. I probably won't even start adding gold players until much later.
I have Nelson Cruz that I received at the start, he is my only player above silver.

I'll be honest, I don't have a great understanding of how the missions and rookies work. I assume once I unlock one their 'mission' becomes available? Once the mission is complete do I get their 'prime' card?

I'm not home so I cannot look it up on a console, but there are several missions across the categories, one for Griffey for sure, that make you accumulate stats across all DD games with certain type of cards (it is detailed on that screen), like 20 HRs, 10 triples, 200 hits, 1000 at bats etc... There is one for rookie pitchers as well...
I simply went through all categories, tried to clean up the simplest ones, left some for later, and wrote down which players I need, so now I'll just play these cards, it will take some time to reach all those goals.

Re: Whats Your Squad Look Like?

I've into RttS early and haven't opened my MVP/pre-order starter packs. So, just a couple of meaningful pulls/drops with my starter cards.

Rotation is Iwakuma (pack), followed by 4 starter players: Karns, A.J. Cole, Norris, and some bum named Justin Marks.

In the bullpen, I made Carl Edwards Jr. as my chosen starter. He's a setup guy. Other starter players are LOOGY Tommy Lane, second setup man Jonathan Broxton, and closer Steve Cishek. I just got Junichi Tazawa from a post-game drop to join pack pull Blaine Boyer, replacing another pack pull, Heath Hembree.

              For the position guys...

C: I sold my silver Yadi Molina for 1,800 Stubs, opting to continue with starter cards Michael McKenry and Tuffy Gosewich.

1B: Trio of starter cards, with Adam Lind starting over Mark Reynolds (thanks, SDS, for the platoon righty with reverse stat splits!). Clint Robinson is a utility bench guy.

2B: Again, starter cards. Brock Holt's starting over Whit Merrifield.

3B: Matt Carpenter, my loyalty reward (and listed as a 1B), is starting.

SS: Another starter card, Matt Duffy, is the guy. Recently pulled a Jimmy Rollins who might replace the aforementioned Reynolds.

LF: Dante Bichette, my MVP Edition Mission Starter, is backed up by starter card Craig Gentry.

              CF: Pre-order rookie Griffey starts.

RF: Starter card Nomar Mazara starts for me.

Pretty weak squad, but haven't put time into this mode yet.

Re: Whats Your Squad Look Like?

C- All Star Derick Norris (I need 10 All star homers for All Star Goldy and Norris is the only one I have. He has power about 35, so it's not going great...)
1B- Hardware Jeff Bagwell. Great player, rapid and hits both sides well
                2B- Daniel Murphy
                3B- Jake Lamb/Rookie Arenado platoon
                SS- Jose Reyes
                LF- Charlie Blackmon
                CF- Kevin Kiermaier
                RF- Cargo

SP- Postseason CC Sabathia (unbelievably good)
                SP Breakout Jim Hunter
                SP Carlos Carrasco
                SP Aaron Sanchez
                SP Rookie Max Scherzer

Bullpen, general silvers with Breakout Danny Farquhar closing

I rotate in Rookies and Breakout players to work on missions, with Breakout Ike Davis and Michael Saunders getting a lot of AB's. When I finally get an All Star with power I'll ditch Norris and put in Veteran Salty, who I loved last year

Re: Whats Your Squad Look Like?

I've been working the market like crazy these past few days (I've gotten 6 or 7 20 packs in the past two or three days). Today I used 50,000 Stubs to help fill out some of the holes in my lineup.

Edit: Forgot to mention I haven't spent $1 on Stubs or packs.

Catchers: Gary Sanchez (84, NYY - Pulled) & Francisco Cervelli (78, PIT)

1B: Wil Myers (84, SD), Jose Abreu (82, CHW) & Ian Desmond (80, COL)

2B: Dustin Pedroia (2B, BOS) - He was my Loyalty reward

SS: Trea Turner (89, WSH), Jean Segura (83, SEA - Pulled)

3B: Todd Frazier (83, CHW), Javier Baez (81, CHC)

LF: Giancarlo Stanton (88, MIA) - Pulled

CF: Andrew McCutchen (88, PIT), Ken Griffey Jr. (81, SEA)

RF: Mookie Betts (93, BOS) - Pulled him in my pre-order packs

                  Starting Pitchers:
                  (1) Clayton Kershaw (99, LAD) - Pulled him in a 20 pack bundle
                  (2) Felix Hernandez (89, SEA) - Pulled him in my pre-order packs
                  (3) Zack Greinke (88, ARZ) - Pulled
                  (4) Dallas Keuchel (87, HOU)
                  (5) Kyle Hendricks (87, CHC)

Also pulled Yu Darvish but sold him (I'm terrible with him)

                  Relievers
Jim Palmer (75, BAL) - My Gold Starter pack
                  Edwin Diaz (83, SEA)
Ryan Buchter (84, SD) - Buchter is killer as a LHP
Adam Libratore (80, LAD) - He is a boss too
                  Pedro Strop (84, CHC)
                  Raisel Iglesias (83, CIN)
                  Addison Reed (84, NYM)
                  David Robertson (83, CHW)
                  Alex Colome (83, TB)
Cody Allen (87, CLE) - Pulled

I mix and match my relievers a lot but Buchter, Libratore and Allen kill it.

To truth72, Cobb is horrible. He throws underhand.

                    I'm rolling with this team

                    Marte
                    J turner
                    Correa
                    Freeman
                    Dozier
                    Springer
                    Lucroy
                    Polanco

                    Darvish
                    Degrom
                    Seaver
                    Richards
                    Saliizar

G Richards is a stud. I think he's an 83. He throws gas. 98 mph. He'd been my best pitcher

That's a solid team. I just finished a game against a guy who had an entire team of diamonds.... already.

Marte, lindor, cabrerra, arenado, Brantley, tulo flashback, Cespedes and one outfielder I can't remember. He was pitching kluber and moved to allen.

He beat me 2-1 in 14 innings... Had two hits... both of them dingers. It was a really frustrating game, I had 10 hits and scored one run. Despite the fact I was constantly getting green/good contact.

Re: Whats Your Squad Look Like?

I received Lorenzo Cain as my pre order player. Pulled Manny Machado, Evan Longoria, David Price and Starling Marte in my initial pull along with some solid silvers Victor Martinez, Jose Bautista, and mark Trumbo. I got the Griffey Rookie card in pre order. My diamond mission player was Jack Morris and Gold was Joc Pederson.
                              Current lineup is:
                              1)CF-Marte
2)2B-Dee Gordon (my purchase early on, grabbed him cheap and early looking for a bounce back year
                              3)SS-Manny Machado
4)1B-Matt Carpenter (got a diamond set of catchers leg protectors in a sponsorship pack for following the show on Twitter) sold them and bought Carp
                              5)3B-Evan Longoria
6)RF-Joc Pederson until I finish his mission
                              7)LF-Griffey
8)C-Jorge Posada (another mission card) got D. Mesaraco as a reward after finishing a game and will use him after Posada's mission is complete and his events game is player.
Cain Will go to RF when I finish Pederson's mission.

                              Rotation:
                              1)David Price

4)82 overall rookie Max Scherzer (got after beating diamondbacks 2 times. Working on his mission.
