    Frustrated with hitting

I am getting so frustrated with hitting that I just might quit playing. It is getting ridiculous. If I miss any pitch to my opponent it seems to get crushed for a homerun and even some on the corners go over the fence. However I get a ton of popups or warning track flyout using x. Only when I seem to power swing do I hit it with a bunch of power. I hate power swinging.

My lineup is stacked with diamonds and I use zone hitting with a big screen tv. I don't feel like I should have to go get a gaming monitor just to play one stupid video game. I keep getting matched up with World series players who torch me or I manage to squeak out a 1 or 2 run winning game. It just isn't fun.

I have had some good games but the overall ease of people ripping hits all over seems to kill it for me. I really don't know what to do.

Online in this game is real sweaty. I also constantly get good green pci swings and nothing to show for it.

Honestly, when that happens to me it's generally because I'm trying to cover the whole plate from the first pitch and swinging at too much. When I'm playing well I'm only looking at a certain part of the plate for the first couple of strikes and leaving everything else, even if it's a strike.

Even then, at times you will just be punished by the randomness of the computer sometimes deciding that your perfectly timed and placed PCI should be a routine pop up or grounder, while your just late swing will rocket one 110mph for an opposite field homer, but that's just how this buggy game works right now

Don't feel bad man. One game I had 2 homers with Reggie & then next game I couldn't hit squat.. I only won cause dude threw a wild pitch.. It's frustrating at times but so is baseball. Lol

Ive recently started power swinging way more with most batters unless theres two strikes. I noticed a huge improvement. I too hate power swinging but I was hitting a ton of balls I felt should have gone out but werent. Its kind of dumb how much of a difference it can make, its also quite unrealistic in my eyes

              Frustrated with hitting

If the player has greater than 50 power, I power swing every swing. Even with two strikes. X button swings are simply not consistent enough in rewarding you for hitting a ball well. I would rather strike out 2 more times per game than have the annoyance of constant center green lazy fly outs. If you can get the hang of it, power swinging is more rewarding.

Ive posted this on these forums constantly, but playing on a huge TV really isn't good for hitting. It sucks to say, but if you want to be consistently competitive, good luck doing it without a decent monitor. I bought one of the cheapest ones possible and the game is much more fun now. I went World Series one week after purchasing it. I'll continue to say it's a better investment than stubs if you're looking to have more fun playing.

Well I have to do something different so I ordered the monitor. Results now are wildly inconsistent and making me lose interest in playing. I'll let you know when I get to try it out this weekend if it makes a huge difference. I hope it does.

I sure hope it works out for you, I'll be interested to hear how it goes. As long as you got 5ms or less refresh rate you should see some improvement. I've been in your shoes before, but since buying this monitor hitting has not been an issue.

Not just you man. This is the worst, most unrealistic version of hitting the game has had in over a decade. Just late on inside fastballs should result in jam shots or bloop hits at MOST. Not upper deck opposite field homers. This game is a joke unless they fix that. Hitting is just broken otherwise, guys can just sit on offspeed and be just late on fastballs and not have any consequences whatsoever.

They need to just fix the damn hitting. Its so wildly inconsistent and not realistic at all The amount of good timing swing I have on balls on the center of the plate yet I pull them a mile foul is absolutely ridiculous, then you see good timing on something over the middle and hit a homer to right center, it makes no sense. Everything is so wildly inconsistent. But that seems to be the theme this year. Meter pitching is a joke. The hitting is a joke. I cant stand the variable strike zone.

All that said, I still play the game way too much everyday haha.

I lasted about a month but unless a major change or patch is coming I doubt I go back. I haven't popped the game in my PS4 in a little over two weeks and have had no urge to do so. Game is just not fun and you save yourself a lot of frustration from simply not playing.

The power swing should not be the preferred type of swing they need to make the penalty much more dramatic for using that type of swing I have played against guys and I am sure most of you have too that power 90% of the time if not more. Not sure the perfect solution but base it after base hit using power swing and most likely directional hitting needs to be addressed.

I'm pretty sure it shrinks the timing window and it definitely decreases your vision. It takes a lot of practice to get used to it. I kind of think it is user preference. If you want to swing for the fences, but strikeout/pop out more, why can't you? Power swinging definitely does not come without penalty.

I'm talking specifically about zone hitting, directional is a whole different story. The fact of the matter is that this is still a video game and there are going to be people that are just too good at it no matter what.

I can't say 100% but I would guess that the majority of people using power swing all the time use directional hitting because in my experience zone hitting with power swing is tough to square up unless you know what is coming (i.e. the opposing pitcher is predictable). I do agree that some people are just really good at the game and can power swing with zone hitting and get good results but with the amount of people exclusively using the power swing I find it hard to believe that many people are that good with zone hitting.
