    Low BABIP

In DD this year, I've noticed that my team's Batting Average on Balls in Play (BABIP) seems to be really low. I just calculated my team's BABIP and it's .208 in about 50 games (MLB average is .295 this year). Is it just me? Is there something wrong with the game? Am I just not very good?

I'd love to hear what other people's BABIP is, and what type of hitting they use (I use Zone with Buttons). For those who don't know how to calculate BABIP, the calculation is outlined here https://www.fangraphs.com/library/offense/babip/

Please drop a comment, and let me know. I'm very curious if others are experiencing similar problems.

Something like the bolded. There's a pretty firm consensus among the offline slider makers to turn fielder reaction and/or run speed down because of fielders getting to balls they shouldn't be able to get to, and both of those impact BABIP. Of course, that's not possible in DD.

Swinging with the power swing is probably your best way of manipulating BABIP in the absence of being able to tune the game. It is what it is, and in DD everyone's pretty much on that same playing field.

I don't know the exact number for my BABIP, but I too struggle with that sometimes while I'm playing on Legend. Any lower than that and I can make pretty solid contact regardless and rarely strike out.

Yup, it's not you mate it's the game. Everyones BABIP is far lower than it should be and it a pretty good way of measuring how off the game is. Homers or line outs, as the fielders cover far too much ground to consistently either get balls through the infield or to drop in the outfield. It kind of has to be though due to the complete absence of strikeouts, if BABIP was where it should be, ERA's would be through the roof.

Too easy to put the ball in play, too hard to get a base hit on a ball in play.

Some of the catches the infielders make out in the outfield are absurd. I just laugh.

The one where the 1st baseman plucks a 105mph rocket out of the sky then all in one motion tags the diving back runner for a double play is my personal favourite. That or the weird floating linedrive that the short stop somehow manages to run faster than to catch at head height to the right of second base. Not sure what the physics are on that, but generally baseballs don't act like Frisbees and just hang in the air while moving slowly enough for people to catch up with

This goes hand in hand with the low strikeout ratio this year. It’s simply to easy to make contact this year which puts more poorly hit balls in play. The weak fastballs and floating PCI are other factors. This year it’s best to have low contact players with high power which is idiotic. They really need to fix the pitching and the hitting fast.

I love how corner infielders can snag 110 mph line drives like its nothing, but a 4 hopper hit right at them and the wave at it and miss half the time.
