    DD, where to start

Every year I try to get into DD, and every year I give up because it seems so overwhelming.

Can someone help me by giving some.suggestions on what to do first, sec etc. I am not interested in playing online so is there any point in DD for me since I cant seem to find a place to use my best line up if that makes sense.

Conquest is offline and you can get some good rewards from it.

      Re: DD, where to start

I'll be starting with Conquest for sure.

I've seen other people talking about March to October (as part of completng Team Affinity). Can somebody explain this to me? Is it a DD game mode?

Also - for North American players, unsure if you've already seen this but there was a link to some free stuff up front. See below. I'm not sure if it still works as it may have only been limited time. There are also links for free stuff coming out on Playstation twitter each day (retweeted by MLB the show and MLB the show Tips twitter accounts).

Unfortunately, it seems to be only for North American players which is total bollocks (I'm Australian). Hardly fair to be giving free stuff to one set of users and not others since we all play on the same platform/market

March to October isn't strictly a DD mode, but completing it helps in the Team Affinity programs, which are replacing the team epics. I think other than moments and conquest, doing a Cardinals March to October will be my main priority because I want to get that Bob Gibson.

Thanks Dan - I noticed you mentioned you'll probably do a Cardinals March to October. Does this mean you just use the Cardinals roster per the game, OR are you the "Cardinals" but you can still pick from any of your DD cards?

Is it literally a full season with the team or bits along the "march". Just trying to gauge how much time commitment to complete one.

Also....looks like you're able to download the game now if you got a digital edition. Mine is downloading and then just says "Playable in 13 hours".

You use the team you pick, not your DD cards. It’s a season-like mode, but you only play certain parts of important games. Sony San Diego’s YouTube has their livestream that details the mode, I’ll put the link below. From what I’ve seen, it’ll take 15-20 hours to complete one season. It depends on the difficulty you play on, but you can get a lot of the Team Affinity stuff done with a play-through, but if you didn’t want to do March to October you can complete Team Affinity other ways.

I ripped through 50 or so packs, pulled some Golds, sold them, bought a Starter Pack (3 Golds and 7 silvers, unsellable). Flipping through missions and moments, haven’t picked my Special Edition Diamond. I’m really leaning Stan Musial because I hit well with him last year. Chipper is also very appealing but the Mets fan in me would hate myself.

Look at the team affinity rewards the MTO is looking really enticing with some good cards coming from that.

I’m planning on grinding hard through the Mets to get that 96 Reyes!

I don't play online much either. There is so much to do offline to progress. you can play vs CPU to get stuff done, and now with moments and march to OCt, theres more offline based stuff and then obviously conquest.

Conquest is my favorite. Nice quick games. Looking forward to trying moments and March to October also but so far just been playing conquest and trying to get my lineup where I want it.

Got to be honest, just started it up and really struggling to see anything to actually do with my team? There is conquest and then a few "moments" on the 1st inning program, is that it? Is there no stats missions at all, or any reason to ever play 9 inning games against the computer?

Most of the moments are these ones where you are given players to use, so what is the point in having a team? or is it just to grind innings for team affinity? It feels like there is a lot missing from last year in terms of reasons to actually play offline

Agreed. Still too early to have a concrete opinion but I feel a little underwhelmed with DD this year. I really enjoyed it last year. Strictly a offline player though.

Looking at this. Should I just keep doing moments, or should I move to something specific? I was doing 2B moments until the Cano one, because the game loves walking me, and walks don't count towards bases

I dunno I haven’t even touched the online portion of DD yet and had plenty to do. You’re right there isn’t much cause to play 9 inning games Offline with your team. But the majority of the moments in the 1st inning program require the use of your entire team. Not to mention using them for Conquest which will have way more to do inside it than last year. And if you do want to play 9 innings that will net you a lot more experience than the small moments which works towards the XP reward path.

I won’t lie and say I don’t wish they had included at least some of the stat grind missions. Maybe as an alternative side path you could take if you like that better. But to say there’s not much to do I think isn’t accurate.

                              Re: DD, where to start

I think they wanted avoid having players just grind vs. CPU games. They could definitely add more as the year goes on but right now it's all Moments, March to October and Conquest for solo play to make progress.

If you just want to grind experience points and levels then vs. CPU games are probably the quickest way to do that but other than that SDS definitely wanted to change up the DD grind this season and avoid those get an entire season worth of stats with LA Dodgers style of missions.

Honestly I think online play feels a lot better this year and would recommend people at least give it a try for a couple games. It's much easier to at least make contact and string together a few hits as opposed to striking out 15 times and praying for 2 solo HRs for a 2-1 win like last year.
