Re: What Does Your DD Squad Look Like?

I also built a no spend team.

Off the top of my head:
1B Keith Hernandez (Got him from conquest. He's a hitting machine and a diamond fielder. He's hitting almost .400. Has like no power, but damn he just slaps hits into the field left and right)
2B Diamond Ian Kinsler - Probably my weakest Diamond, but he's good for now. Bought him on the market
SS Diamond Jose Reyes from the Team affinity - 97 speed, decent hitting diamond fielder. Just exchange cards and play as all Mets in conquest. Easy peasy to get
3B Diamond Brooks Robinson - He's a beast... Got him from one of the XP rewards
RF Diamond Matt Kemp - Got him from a moment achievement I believe. He's a beast all around
CF Diamond player created - It's me and I'm awesome. It's pretty easy to build an awesome diamond. Probably took 4-5 hours tops
LF Acuna - Me and every other team has him in LF. I really want to get rid of him at some point. His defense drives me nuts. He sure can hit and run though.
C - Diamond Mike Piazza - Not going to be the best Piazza card, but it will do for now. Got this for collecting all the Mets. This was hard and took a lot of time as Degrom, Noah and Diaz are all expensive as hell. I got lucky pulling Diaz in a pack.

Pitching I won't bother going into much, but I have Goose and Diaz to close games and a decent collection of starting pitchers. I need to fill out 1B and LF with better players and then I'll start aiming for elite pitching.

I finally finished the 2nd inning program as I was busy the last couple of weeks. had to just plow through the moments which wasn't exactly super fun, but it didn't take all that long. I then hit a bunch of milestones and got more diamonds to pick. I personally think they might be overly generous with rewards this year, but I like it better than it being super hard.

1B Miguel Cabrera - I'm really iffy about playing him at 1B as it's his secondary position for this card, but I'm not moving Brooks from 3B.

      2B Ian Kinsler

      SS Jose Reyes

      3B Brooks Robinson

      LF Matt Kemp

CF Player created dude - Probably won't last much longer on my lineup, but I'm hitting like 360 and have 92 speed.

      RF Ichiro Suzuki

      C Mike Piazza

So all diamonds now. The team is getting kind of ridiculous. I have tons a speed, decent power and good fielding. Guess I should focus on pitching. My pitching is pretty good, but I could use at least one more solid diamond starter. Oliver Perez is my only gold, but he also has an ERA under 2. People can't hit him.

Re: What Does Your DD Squad Look Like?

Re: What Does Your DD Squad Look Like?

Just started playing DD in earnest last weekend, but it has been a complete wormhole for my evenings ever since.

Pretty happy with my squad right now, as I'm kinda in a lurch having just collected the 70 XP reward (disappointing), and finished most of the good conquests/moments. My reward for finishing the May moments was Frankie damn Montas, so that's not great for motivation. A weekly voucher exchange turned into some bullpen arm that wouldn't even make my B-team.

        Right now, I'm rolling out:
        4- 99 Alomar- Stud.
9- Veteran Cobb- Clutch as hell, always gaps me a double when I need it. Defense is lacking.
        7- Acuna
5- Hardware Chipper- probably the most realistic feel to a video game player I've ever seen-- hits line drives, not moonshots
3- SS Foxx- still trying to figure him out, his bat drops right into the line of sight for the ball in his load, annoying as hell. He can play literally anywhere as a second position.
8- Cain- poster above said it...dude flat-out does it all. Played a couple of the breakout Griffey moments and decided I didn't want to pursue it too much further. Cain just plays better.
        2- Sanchez
6- Rookie Hanley- love this card, but probably the next to go as I move Foxx and Senzel around.

Bench: Diamond Senzel, Breakout Michael Taylor (hitting .929 with him haha), Gold Matt Olson (just got Foxx yesterday), Gold Didi Gregorious (on the chopping block as I just got Senzel as well), Gold David Peralta

SP: SS CC Sabathia, breakout Bob Feller, hardware David Price, hardware Rick Porcello, regular ole Luis Severino. I HATE pitching with Price. Got shelled by the Astros in Conquest playing on daggum Veteran.

RP: LHP Alvarado (stud) and rookie Chris Sale. RHP Chad Green (saved me from the aforementioned David Price meltdown), Carl Edwards Jr/Pedro Strop/Brandon Morrow (no, I don't have a Cubs fetish, they're just my best options), CL Blake Trienen

Re: What Does Your DD Squad Look Like?

I've spent $$ to stockpile stubs in anticipation of a future SS Andrew McCutchen Card becoming available. But up until then, I have spent none of my stubs that I purchased on my current club:

          3B: FS Senzel
          CF: LS Marte
C: Kendall (whatever one comes with the Digital DL portion, had to get my childhood favorite)
          1B: LS Rizzo
          CF: LS Springer
          RF: LS Acuna Jr
          SS: LS Story
          2B: 83 Robinson

          C: 83 Bench
          SS: TN Cole Tucker
          OF: FB Bryan Reynolds
1B: LS Josh Bell (flip flops with Willie Stargell based on IE)
OF: LS Blackmon (sometimes flip flops with TN Mallex Smith when I need speed)

          SP: 89 Oswalt
          SP: LS Snell
          SP: 83 Burnett
          SP: LS Grenkie
          SP: LS Morton

          RP: 78 Fergie Jenkins
          RP: 79 Chris Sale
          RP: 82 Hunter Strickland
          RP: LS Felipe Vasquez
          RP: LS Kirby Yates
          RP: LS Sean Doolittle
          RP: LS Blake Treinen

With the sale they had going on for PS+, I just bought up 3 months of membership, so far 9-0 on RS, but I'm quickly approaching my "play level" for opponents. Less teams like mine, more with tons of SS-level diamonds. I really just want to get up above 500 to get the Salvy Perez reward that goes with it, and get up over 200 stars for the 3rd Inning to cash in on reward there. Now that I can play online, I feel like it'll be immensely easier to gobble up stars for the 4th inning program. Really want to work on the Royals TA here soon for the George Brett/Sabrehagen rewards

Nolan Arenado (Live Series, 91 OVR)
Kris Bryant (Live Series, 85 OVR)

                Outfielders:

MR - Ken Giles (Rookie, 86 OVR)
MR - Josh Hader (Live Series, 87 OVR)
                MR - Troy Percival (All-Star, 86 OVR)
                SU7 - Zach Britton (All-Star Team Affinity, 87 OVR)
SU8 - Felipe Vazquez (Breakout Team Affinity, 85 OVR)
                CL - "Goose" Gossage (All-Star, 95 OVR)

*Note: I'm about to unlock the Signature Series Billy Wagner and I have no idea who to replace. I'm sure most will suggest Vazquez or Percival but I love both of those cards. I think I may replace Giles and just roll with 4 lefties in my pen.

Holy Moses, so my how things have changed over the last month.

I went away from just putting together the best possible team, and now I'm just playing with players I enjoy playing with/my favorite players. Even losing has been fun since I started doing this. I also discovered the power of using a CAP (Holy Crap why was I not using one before???!?!?). Here's what I look like right now, subject to change when I add McCutchen from the 4th Inning:

I did end up spending add'l $$ so that I could guarantee I could have George Brett on my team. It's my first real season playing DD, and I've always wanted to play with the guy I was named after, so even though it was $$ to a virtual world, it was money well spent IMO.

I'm excited to see what comes in the next Program, but I'm also heavily invested in Aaron Nola, and have some side investments in Charlie Morton, Zach Grenkie, and Brad Hand. I'm hoping to see at least one, maybe two of them end up getting a bump at the end of the week so I can go out and buy a LS Arenado. What I like so much about the XP progression this year is I always feel that *does pinching motion* close to adding the next big piece. Cutch is right around the corner for the 4th inning, and Tony Gywnn/Duke Snider is not too far off either, as I'm at Bronze 89 right now.

I'm more of a retro Franchise player, but I do the Innings 10 wins for the stars.
