The removal of the excruciatingly long grinds from 18 is something I'm in favour of, but the shorter, more palatable missions and programs are gone too and it feels like the baby went out with the bathwater.
Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?

Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?
It seems to me that there's not much for objectives for my DD team to do as an offline player. There's Conquest, but even with its expansion in 19, it doesn't fill the void that the removal of all 18-style programs and missions has left. Moments don't interest me because very few of them involve actually using my DD team.

Really looks like you can just do Conquest or play vs CPU. I wish they had some play vs CPU Specific challenges for Team Affinity. Maybe something like "Beat this team's Rivals" and then on all difficulties for points. Smaller boost than March to October, but still -

Moments aren't DD though, at least 90% of them aren't. of the 30 or so they added yesterday, only one 3 inning game against their pet streamers actually uses your DD teamComment

I’m thinking they have more variety coming down the pipe at some point. At least I would assume so, but for now, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Plus, once I settle on a roster, I’ll be hitting franchise for a while & then when I hit DD hard again, I should have plenty of options. I always wind up going either/or for some reason. A few weeks of franchise, few weeks DD. Lol, never really balance the modes together at the same time.Comment

Re: Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?
I sincerely hope you're right.
You know, it occurs to me that the missions were the method of driving people to use cards they wouldn't otherwise use in years past. It forced people to get out of their comfort zones in terms of what lineup they were fielding. There's no reason to anymore. Not only that, the main reason people wanted multiple lineups was so they could easily switch between their optimized lineup for Ranked Seasons and a different lineup with cards they wanted to do missions with. Now that the missions are gone, multiple lineups seem a lot less useful to me.Comment

I wish we could play a season, with quick counts etc. Pull random teams from online or Sony have DD Fantasy teams of some sort to play against. In a March to October type mode but with our DD team.Twitch

Re: Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?
There has never been much more than Conquest. I have never personally found the stat grinding missions an incentive to play. On the contrary, forcing me to worry about stolen bases, or holds, or forcing me to keep the score close so that I can get a save is a way to drive me away.
I am earning program points by playing. I am advancing up the XP ladder simply by playing. I am earning some team affinity juts buy playing.
What they really need to do first, which should not be to hard, is make some additions to Conquest.
- Swap out rewards as often as you swap them out for Ranked Seasons or Events. I have Ty Cobb. I am not going to be convinced to play the whole US map again for a 10 pack bundle. We all know how awful normal pack odds are. Refresh the reward for May
- Set up Events style Conquest Rounds. Give us roster limitations we have to stick to.
I don't dislike Conquest. I dislike that there is little to no reason to replay a map.Last edited by Dolenz; 04-07-2019, 06:09 PM.Comment

You can play against the 30 MLB clubs and it counts towards DD goals. Just not against friends or Xtra innings.Steelers, Penguins, Penn State, Pirates, Red Sox, Manchester United.Comment

Re: Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?
I mean, that's just not true though. At this stage last year, there was conquest with all the conquest missions, then conquest extreme. Then there was the monthly missions, there was the first wave of career arcs, the individual player missions, the first level of all the immortal missions and then the team epics dropped after a week or two.
That's a lot of stuff to do. Pretty much every game you played was going towards about 10 different things. (stats with Dodgers, HR's with catchers, HR's with All Star outfielders, 2B doubles, SS homers and a whole bunch of other stuff) Not only did that incentivise playing, it meant what happened in the game actually mattered, this year I might aswell just bunt too get games over with once I'm winning, as nothing you do in games matters.
This year, there is the return of a very basic conquest with no missions and bad rewards, then 3 tiny maps with even worse rewards. That's pretty much it, except I suppose mindlessly grinding innings for team affinity or experience.
Whether you liked doing all these missions doesn't change the fact that they were there and it was a hell of a lot of content, that simply isn't there this year. All the stuff they added this year, that just ticks along while you play, would have been a great addition in the background, but as a replacement for all that active content, it's a huge subtraction.Comment

Fifas Squad Battles mode from ultimate team is perfect for offline users that rewards us with weekly prizes like coins and packs. Would love to see SDS incorporate something similar.Comment

There is not a lot OP and I agree with you. The good thing for me is that this will get me further into my Franchise than ever before. I do not want to think about how much time I spent in DD last year, at this point, compared to this year. I feel like I have barely touched the game. Even though my available time has been shorter this year, I am still playing other games as much instead of playing DD due to the setup.Comment

Re: Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?
I never found the career arcs and programs compelling at all last year. I realize that some players like those grinds but I usually did not, especially since they were accompanied by player and souvenir exchanges which I hate since I don't enjoy playing the market.
I don't think I even finished the team epic for the cardinals last year because there were always stats that were hard to come by. That and the Ozzie Smith card was useless
So, I think that they are moving in the right direction. The XP path kind of reminds me of the My Career in that I can just play the mode I want, how I want and I am making progress.
That said, new maps alone won't keep me going very long, especially since the new one's top prize (Keith Hernandez) will not even make my squad.Comment

Re: Besides Conquest, what is there to achieve with my DD team as an offline player?
I’m with you guys. I mean even having some stat based missions for team affinity rather than the dull innings played would be nice and would force one to plan strategically. Instead of being 150 innings, make it something like 30 hits, 10 XBHs, 5 steals, 3 wins , 20k, or something like that. Change it up a bit. But with just innings, I can just mindlessly play games as long as I stack my lineup and gain the affinity.
Same for the dailies...
