Showdown at its core is a really fun and solid mode. But it’s in its first year. With some more refining it could be really great.

That being said I still have yet to beat one haha. What’s the easiest one? I just wanna beat one once haha

        Starter!

I agree with you. I think it's a fun mode, but I've yet to beat one either....except for Starter.

al central and west are really easy, beat them both a bunch of times. Theres a ton of silvers that are usable all the way to the end.

Only two division ones I’ve beaten are both Centrals. Multiple times each actually. Beat the AL Central again today. Got Boyd for the first time in the final down 15-5 and won with 3 outs left. NL Central is always Hader in the final so that one I’d say is probably your best bet. Although the 2nd Inning one isn’t bad either. Just hope you don’t get Feller in the final.

              Re: Showdown Thread

So I tried it again today....and I gotta tell you...this really just kind of wrecks the game for me.

I did much better and had a pretty good team.

Then I get to Feller at the end and it I for the life of me can't understand why they have the music on....(Can you turn it off somehow???)

I couldn't even hit a ball fair. I was too late on every fastball....except for the 6 I was early on some how. That stuff just blows my mind. I could swing as soon as he let go and hit a fastball fair, but, that won't work.

It cleared up at the end when I had 3 outs left and i got a few hits. I wish we could play these offline somehow so the internet can't cause a problem. I always get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when the pitcher is stuttering on the first pitch of the game.....it looks smoother after that, but, it isn't right. I can overcome it when a pitcher is around 92-93...as soon as they get over 95 it is unplayable.

To give you an idea of how silly it is....when it cleared up I pulled an inside pitch to left.....I go from can't catch up to anything to pulling the ball and being too early.....

It would be cool if these modes were consistent.

As of 4/13 12:30am est I will never attempt another showdown. I stink, I know I stink, and this mode makes me stink more than I usually do.

                  That is all.

                  Lol.

Finally!!!! Beat the NL East Showdown. I was 0-8 with the AL East and 0-2 in the NL East.

And to top it off, opened the Show Pack I got from it and pulled Arenado!!!

Yup, it may be against an offline opponent, but it's constantly connected to the internet to prevent dashboard cheating.

But tbh, I think the problem is that they have roided up the pitch speed on Feller to make him seem better than he is. Every time I faced him he was throwing way harder than anyone I've faced, even guys who actually throw harder on significantly higher difficulties

Congrats! I haven’t beaten either of the East ones. Pitchers are tough especially in the NL one. Are the bosses always the same for those?

                          Nice pull on Arenado also.

                            Re: Showdown Thread

Here's a couple of practical 2nd Inning Showdown tips for those, like me, that struggle in Showdown. Maybe everyone already figured these out but me, but I need every advantage I can get. I always look ahead to the next Moment/Showdown to maximize my lineup, if possible. If you already knew these, just say "Duh" and move on. You can humor me with a like if you're feeling generous toward old people that suck at Showdowns.

In the first showdown vs Bedrosian:
                            1. Like in all showdowns, put your 8 best hitters against a Righty in the lineup. Defense doesn't matter. You can't replace the pitcher, but you can PH for him at first chance.
                            2. You'll start with the bases loaded and your 1-2-3 hitters on base. Set your lineup to put your worst 3 hitters at 1-2-3, so they'll be on base and not hitting until after your 6 better hitters have hit.

Also, I welcome other Showdown tips and tricks!

                              Re: Showdown Thread

2nd inning showdown was pretty easy; finished on first try completing 9/12 challenges (using clean screen, classic/directional).

Got to final Showdown vs David Price down 5 runs. Left my 3 Diamond players on the bench (I think I used 1 as a PH)...mainly stuck with my silver guys and a couple of golds. I think I got down to 6 outs before putting him away on a sac fly.

I'm convinced that stashing your best players for key ABs is the key to beating this mode. I go completely against the norm and go with high vision players even if they have meh power (I got stuck with Sanchez 1 round due to...pitchers). After that, it just comes down to getting quality pitches to hit and having your buffs set up appropriately - I tend to go for the ones favoring deep count boosts.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

So here's a story from the other side of the tracks...

2nd Inning Showdown, like all the other Showdowns, is not easy......for me.

I've still yet to win one. I tried the 2nd Inning SD for the 2nd time today. I only won two of the Moments, but made it to the Final with a 3-15 deficit....facing Bob Feller. A daunting task for a mediocre hitter, especially since my team wasn't great, having won only two Moments.

I tried it anyway. I tried to be extremely disciplined. I never swung (sp?) until he threw a strike. With one strike, I had to perceive it as center cut. With two strikes, I always used Contact swing. I made him throw over 130 pitches before defeating me 10-15. I was starting to feel like I had a chance with 10 outs remaining at 8-15. But too many DPs, ill-advised swings, some bad base-running, etc and I was doomed.

Now what? Let's try it again!
