Such fun! (update with new outlook)

    Hi Show players,

I've been feeling a bit regretful for some of my more negative/critical posts in these forums. At the end of the day I love The Show and think it's a great achievement - I just have high expectations.

I've dived a lot deeper into the various DD modes and I'm eating (Aaron) crow a bit. I have a better understanding of how the player programs work, as well as Showdown and battle royale. I'm enjoying playing the Ivan Rodriguez program and I love the idea of eventually earning a high-level version of him for my RS squad (for the younger members: prime Pudge is the best all-around catcher I've ever seen. Absolute stud at the plate with all-fields contact+power, and a throwing arm that God would envy)

Showdown is particularly addictive, although my plate discipline is atrocious at the moment and I'm swinging at everything, which can - to an extent - be extra punishing on Rookie or Pro Showdowns because you make a lot of crappy contact.

My Ranked Seasons squad is coming along a bit. I pulled a gold Ozzie Albies card in a pack and earned a good Chipper card and a gold Saberhagen, which have helped me compete (that said, I think I've lost every RS game since the original post below)

Mostly I just want to say that I retract a lot of what I said. I simply hadn't given the other modes enough of a shot, and I didn't grasp how much they affected our coin-earning and Ranked Seasons rosters.

I've been enjoying playing Showdown with Bill Simmons/Russillo in the background talking 90'S Bulls, while drinking lots of green tea and oolong. Quarantine isn't all bad. Although, I switched TV's from a Sony to a Samsung and the lag/framerate drop is jarring!

I think the development team did some quality work setting up the Showdowns and programs. It's awesome being tasked with striking out Duke Snider, then seeing him donning that vintage Brooklyn jersey, and it's nice getting to play (temporarily) with some great players whose cards would take hours (days?) of work to roster in RS. Currently have a Todd Helton / Eloy Jimenez 3-4 in showdown which tickles me so.

Apologies this is so long. I mostly wanted to apologize for being such a negative Nancy about Diamond Dynasty. I was just frustrated, and now I see how the various modes all work together as supplemental pieces to RS.

Thanks for listening. Now back to Showdown!

You don't have to apologize. The game sucks.

But like most of us you have found some of the bright spots it has to offer. It's not always terrible. Just a lot of the time. We use this forum to complain when it makes us mad, when we see stuff that just doesn't make sense and basically "fantasy design" by making suggestions we'd like to see. We'll also post normal stuff or about good games we have.

Don't feel bad if you get frustrated. Whether you're having fun or absolutely hating the game on a given day that's what the board is for.

Glad you're having fun, though. The new Showdowns are indeed fun for what they are. They're pretty close in fun factor to the old batting practice games from MVP Baseball and I've always wished they'd do stuff like that. They're very good and well balanced in terms of time investment versus what you're getting out of it.
