Could still be the pool of players, no Game Pass this year for example so no one playing "for free" this year.

I wish SDS would start curating the Mini Seasons lineups themselves, at least outside of "classic" mode. Too often the teams are all functionally identical and it just feels like you're playing the same team over and over.

That and they're almost always a little overpowered relative to where the average grinder's team is.

        Update
        • All Offline Programs, completed (XP Program just passed the 1st boss)
        • Mini Season Theme for CC, completed
        • All Conquest Maps, completed
        • Diamond Quest, all cards acquired, completed
        • 17 Teams Fully Collected
        • 11 Jolt Players Collected
        • Multiplayer Program, 20 points into the 45 needed for the player card
        • Classic Mini Season, just started, 2 games in

Now just the mindless grind of catching up to the 17 completed teams and getting their Jolt card. 6 players behind so to speak. One moment, collect card, thats 25k, then just 30k needed after that and usually done within 3 mini season games (or conquest).

I pulled Judge early and a few other decent duplicates to sell in which helped move my collection along.

Does anyone else kind of feel like mini-seasons is sort of “rigged” to suppress offense and produce close games? Feels like no matter what difficulty I’m on or who’s in my lineup, every game is a one run affair and frequently going to extras. I’m either getting a random solo shot or a couple lucky bloops, but can never actually string together offense. Feels like an unusual number of good swings just yield garbage contact or lasers right to fielders.

I don’t know if it’s just that all my bad luck is getting concentrated there, but to be honest it felt like this last year, too. And the thing is I’ll then go play a conquest game on a higher difficulty level with basically the same lineup and actually mash against the CPU’s ace.

          It’s really bizarre and annoying.

Just adding to the list here..

Finished the 2 new conquest Maps
Finished Classic Mini Seasons (win 22 games, quit out until playoffs, win 6 playoff games)

Now to possibly grind Diamond Quest for stubs. I do also need to do the Spring Breakout Showdown, I don't have any of the 4 players in this to finish the collection. I finished the program without needed Showdown, but will have to cave at some point for the cards.

Finally finished the Sabathia mini-season, which felt a little forced by the end, but at least I capped it off with one of my better games of the season.

Moving back to catch up on the Conquest maps using a lineup of the various TA and program cards I unlocked while finishing the MS (where I tend to just use my best lineup as much as possible).

I'll probably just focus on Conquest for a while, which I've realized is just kind of my sweet spot. Still not finding myself interested in Diamond Quest.

Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 25 Edition)

After a couple of days away I did a little bit of focused grinding over the weekend and finished off the conquest maps and programs that I hadn't finished.

I haven't really played with my best team or online yet, but have been enjoying the offline grind. It's weird because I'm not a fan of showdowns, or moments, but Diamond Quest has become my favorite so far. Maybe the appeal will wear off, but it's been a decent way of grinding for stubs/packs so far. I go for the sweeper first and then clear the board. Small sample size but I've been hitting better on legend than all-star for some reason, although thinks it's just paying closer attention and laying off bad pitches. So looking forward to a new map this week.

Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 25 Edition)

I played 3 ranked games and a handful of event games. First day I played pretty much 100% online.

Did not have any lag issues in any game. I played one at shield woods and the field plays fine now and not a hr every single pitch.

People act like exit velocity is nerfed online but I don't really think so. If I squared stuff up most of it will go. I might have hit some sinkers with like 100 power live series trout that were deep flyouts but I think that's much better than common off pci homeruns

There are alot more singles, especially through 1st and 2nd. Might become important to get a really slick fielding 2b with speed to prevent those late contact Jeter grounded over there.

I ran schwarber in left field and don't think one ball got hit to him the whole day.

Starting Pitchers are a bit scary. My 3 ranked games were yamamoto, Imanaga, and arrieta... Imanaga Def tough to pitch with but I found later in the game those sweepers middle in are very hard for people to hit.

So far the game as a whole with content and gameplay and fun... Reminds me of 2020. When I play my team is getting better, I'm moving the progress along. 2024 felt like a year of tedious homework.

Starting to really get into things two weeks after launch has been quite nice since there's already so much I've been surfing around. I haven't done any of the original Conquest maps yest (West, East, etc.) but did do all the new ones.

I have done two of the DQs to completion, and I finished the Pipeline Program but am not quite through the Spring one. I haven't done a single collection yet but am up to about 200K Stubs and nearing my first Boss.

My favorite card so far is Gold Konnor Griffin. Just mash with him for some reason and then he has speed and enough D to play four spots.

Started a mini seasons run for sabbath is today. He has sinker cutter and always think he's pretty good. I'm not confident with my current Pitchers

My initial goal was to do al collection for clemens (I have trout, Yordan and jram so far. Now I'm not sure if I should just try to field the best players for my team since with the power creep these live series cards are likely viable for a long time.

Skenes has to be the best pitcher in the game outside of clemens? I think Harper may be the best 1st baseman especially on good edge days (I currently platoon hoskins/kurtz). I don't really like kurtz because he has no leg kick altho I'm doing good with him by chance and he has good defense.

I don't have a favorite real life team and it would be nice to get some parallels on players I use. I feel like I struggle with this live series collection priority every year

                      Lf schwarber
                      Cf jenkins

                      1b kurtz/hoskins platoon
                      C napoli

                      Bench santander/clark

I really am enjoying the thought of fielding a team vs 99 overall everywhere with max everything

I'm always pro looking for swings you like and pitchers with mixes/motions you enjoy. You'll outperform the ratings more than if you just chase ratings.

Completed the New Threads Program last night. Super simple. Moments and added all those extra optional mission guys to my mini season lineup and was done in 5 or 6 games.

Snagged all 4 cards in Diamond Quest as well.

Bought Holmes in market for Mets Theme team and other relievers because of how meh bullpen arms are right now.

Not a fan of all those cards behind a paywall right now but does look like down the road we will have access to those packs in programs to help collect all 28.

I finished up the new threads program last night too - love the structure of the program and how there were so many options to finish it. I did a couple of runs through Diamond Quest and sold everything. I don't really have a plan for stubs, but seems like the play is just sell early and buy once prices settle.

Feels like this new model is good if you can avoid the FOMO. I don't remember getting any cards to even P3 last year, so I've been mostly playing with cards I like and having a lot of fun.

I also started ranked after the second drop of missions. A rough start as my first two games were freeze offs - so started off with an 0-2 record after throwing 2 pitches. But no problems the next four games and was happy to make it up to All-Star pretty quickly. I still don't know how much I'm going to try and do outside of the stat missions, but will see.

Yeah I'm fine with this new structure I think they'll settle into where most of the best cards will be behind a form of a paywall but if you just wait you'll probably get most of them through osmosis.

Too many people want stuff for free and no work.

Santander won't be that hard to get. I got sasaki today but could've gotten him earlier. He's still more than usable as a pitcher albeit wild.

Sure I would like to use Santander today but his gold is good and with the threads program we get some pretty decent cards to use along the way.

Milner was nasty last year for a weird look out of the pen. I've been liking gleyber, I have soler on the bench but haven't used much. Everyone will use Chapman... Holmes has a good pitch mix.

SP is pretty weak right now in general and that must be by design
