Does the show have the following: Rule 5, Arbitration, Waiver System?
Someone let me know because I want to know what I am missing w/ having a 360 and being limited to what 2K delivers with.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Tags: None -

Ha...I was just commenting in the thread in the 2K forum!
It doesn't have Rule V or waiver.....and while it doesn't really have arbitration...it does have club and player options.....which would kind of preclude arbitration.
I truly believe they will eventually get these things in there.

BUT this team at SCea is ALWAYS looking to the year ahead and beyond that... so it could be put in the game in the future, i truly believe that this team that works on this game is the best of the best. they listen and care about us their customers. we deeply appreciate that."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Would someone kindly mind explaining all of the above in detail? I'm pretty familiar with the waivers. How about Rule 5, club options, player options, and arbitration. I've heard of them, but never really looked into them much.Highheat's O's Franchise

This is exactly why these things aren't on the top of their list of things to add. Most peope...common folks like me and hhk...have no idea what these things are. The casual gamer, which probably accounts for the larger percentage of purchasers, won't care one iota that they aren't included (or won't even realize they're missing). I have a basic understanding of each, but not enough to consider them worthy of inclusion. It's only a video game.Comment

Sure. But the reasons I stated probably factor in to why it's taking so long to get added. I doubt it's because they can't. I would imagine it's at the bottom of their list only because most people won't find it important. It's only a video game.Comment

Re: Does the show have the following: Rule 5, Arbitration, Waiver System?
You got the link for the Rule V....
club and player options....I meant them in regards to contracts....in The Show, some players have a player option which means there is an extra year on their contract for a pre-set amoung of money for that year that can be taken by the player....BUT let's say the option is for 1 mil and he has a tremendous season...he may opt NOT to take the player option and thus become a free agent.
The club option is basically the same and you(as GM) get to exercise the option or not.
Arbitration(which is not in the game..but which would be very cool to have) is when a player is arbitration eligible he and the club will let a third party decide on a one year contract for the player....meaning the price...
The options in the waiver system refer to the three years that a club gets to ferry a player up and down through the system. He cannot refuse the assignments if he has options left and is not exposed to the waiver wire(where a player can pick him up)
At a certain age(25 I believe) or service time(six years?) regardless of whether a club has used all a players option years....I think the player could refuse the assignment and he would then be put on waivers(I hope I'm getting this part right...)
Anyway....it really adds a tremendous amount of strategy to being a GM in franchise mode...and I'm looking forward to seeing it in The Show one day.
