Probably true, but I'm kind of worried that I'll be paying $60 for a roster update and a patch.
Based on what we know so far, it looks like it'll come down to whether it's worth it to pay 60 bucks (and restart a franchise) for custom batter/pitcher music, CitiField, and players hopefully not running through each other. MLB 08 was a fantastic game, but I hope it hasn't plateaued. I certainly don't expect 09 to be worse, I just hope that it actually feels like I'm playing a different game. NHL 08 to 09, except for the Be A Pro mode, felt almost identical to me.
I agree 100% with this, and that's why it's definitely one of the best sports games on the market. But all of this (minus the 'enhanced franchise') was already in 08.
If you're unsure of the value of a product, rent it. If you like it, then spend the $60. I, for one, have no reason to doubt the value of '09 given SCEA's track record with The Show. It'll be a day one purchase.Last edited by Woodweaver; 12-20-2008, 06:08 PM."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

Just as an aside from all the good points made here. To the OP: I believe a "10-4 Curveball" is the "straight" curve you are saying is missing. So while that still is nothing new, it's not a downgrade.
As for the concerns that they may have plateaued or peaked, I would think there is nothing to warrant that concern yet. They've added a ton to the franchise mode (we'll see how it all function of course, but attention was clearly given) and seemed to address some of our primary concerns. They're still working on player models which likely means another big visual upgrade in 2010. So I'd say they are still showing plenty of signs moving forward.
As someone already said though, rent it first if you're not sure. I'm sure I'll love it, but I'm also sure that everyone has a different opinion on things so some may actually hate this game.Comment
