I felt like that early on, but after seeing the latest video blog I am thoroughly impressed...I just think that we have gotten so spoiled by the excellent work that SCEA does with the show that sometimes we fail to appreciate the small details that are added that make this game amazing; dynamic lighting, new presentation, better outfield play, franchise options, etc....

We are at the point now that nothing that SCEA does surprises us anymore because we have come to expect so much from them year in and year out, and they continue to deliver....

It's not analog throwing like MVP but it still had a feel to it. The longer you held it down, the harder the throw and greater chance of error. I don't mind the randomness of it as long as the player attributes are used more so we really see who is good defensively and who is bad.

To me it felt like the throwing system was more animation driven in determining throw velocities as opposed to it being driven by the sensitivity of the button press.

PItching from the behind the pitcher view is terrible though unless it's actually lined up and not the TV style 3/4 angle. You can't get a feel for the strike zone and a pitch that you think is on the corner could be down the middle or a foot outside.

They need to set the pitching cam directly behind the batter a la Fenway Park or Camden. I anticipate all tv broadcasts to do this in the near future eliminating that weird 3/4 angle we've grown up

Until then, i'll be gassing fools in batter view, i don't need no stinking signs

It was definitely hit or miss as to when an animation might take over. But I think a lot of the singles to SS and 3B and easy throws to first were up to the user. It was the quick flips to first and double play balls that seems to be out of our control but it seems like that is being fixed for '09.

Only question... aside from a new pitching camera (which I'm only assuming), have you noticed a new batting or fielding camera? For instance, in the trailers there were some home run cuts that looked like they came from a true-to-life broadcast camera. Was that a real gameplay option, was that just a cut scene, or was that an overall tease that's not even in the game?

                Thanks.
Great Question Blaaaz...Chase, could ya elaborate on this? thanks again

It was a moment where I felt the game should not have taken control out of my hands because I did not tell the fielder to slow up; he did it automatically. There is certainly a time when you want an action to be completed automatically, but I did not like that control was taken from me at that exact moment."
I see what you are saying..but i actually think this adds more realism. In the same way player momentum adds realism in games. They represent humans and humans need to slow down to pick up most balls.

I have no problem giving up control for realistic animations in certain situations and that scenario was fine for me. I wish there was true collision detection, including breaking up double plays, but I can live without it. Can't wait!

Well, imagine if 2K9 played like MLB 08...or hell even MLB 07. Any person would be like WOW...this game is great. Its like Obama following up bush. No matter what it will be awsome. Well, This game is the follow up the best game EVER. So there isnt as much room for improvement.

The catcher giving signals, WOW thast a nice little add on, but oh so obvious, a "why didnt I think of that" moment .
The signals are real cool. I love the gameplay of this game. But it is the small little things that truly make this game great. Its really a case of the total being greater than the sum of its parts

Bottom line is that this game at worst is a roster update of the greatest baseball game ever...with the most in depth franchise ever tacked on.

Clearly, if you liked the SHow...this is a must have. If you thought you should have crossed over last year, it gives you bit more reason to crossover. those who will never cross over will never cross over
