A quick note, I am still not a fan of the throwing system in the Show. The animations have improved but I would like a little more bite when it comes to determining the velocity and risk of my throws. It plays nice, I just want to see more.

I'll be shocked if it gets above a 8.8. Great sports games never get the ratings they deserve (aside from NHL 09) from sites like IGN and GameSpot. And mediocre sports games (Madden, MLB 2K8) get much higher scores than they deserve.

Sports games are hard to rate. If you ask me, you have to put in 20 hours into a sports game before you can accurately rate it.

When I first got MLB 08, after the first day I would have given it a 9.0. After a month I would give it a 9.5, there is just too much great stuff in the game that you don't see right away.

On the flip side, look at MLB Front Office Manager from 2K. The first day people were loving it. Now, after time with the game and seeing multiple hitters hitting over .400 for a full season, guys like Papelbon and Torii Hunter being claimed on waivers to the Yankees, and team ERA's above 6.50, people are starting to realize the game absolutely sucks.

Did you give your feelings on the throwing system to Sony while in CA?

Yes, the system to me seems to be more animation driven than pressure sensitive driven. With that said, there are more animations added this year so things look better when they are happening.

The system gets the job done and does not take away from gameplay but there needs to more. I feel they know this too.

One thing that should be mentioned, don't be disappointed if you find something you really wanted did not make it in. These guys are very detailed oriented and will not put something in just to say it is in there. So it does not mean it was necessarily forgotten as people allude to. It has to work properly. Lighting is perfect example, I think that was 2 or 3 year project before it is making its debut for 09. Things take a couple of years to perfect so don't give up hope!

Here are my questions

1. Have you noticed any difference in PCI. Basically can I make contact with almost anythig in the zone without moving the controller

2. were there any sig swings (follow throughs...ex Ichiro, Griffey etc) or did everyone generally share the same animations

3. Do we still have that same ugly animation when swinging at a pitch too far inside.

4. What did you notice different about the pitcher/batter duel. SCEA mentions this...but doesnt go into any detail

5. Do pitchers...pitch like themselves...(ie Wang,lowe keeps things down and is a groundball guy, Mariano busting people in with the cutter relentlessly

The show is a great game without a doubt but theres no way mlb08 gets a 9.0. Lets be realsitic here. The gameplay is smooth as butter but theres a lot of things that hold it back from being a 9. I know you and I love the game a lot but it still needs work. I'd give 08 an 8.5 to be honest.
