Hey everyone, Aaron Luke (Designer) here to bring you the next installment of the MLB 09 The Show blogs. This entry will focus on the enhancements to Road To The Show. This year’s edition of RTTS has received enhancements to nearly every aspect of the mode. Starting with the front-end aspects, the PS3 Create Player [...]

Another new, yet subtle addition sure to make an impact is RTTS specific fast-forwarding options. We’ve heard your calls and answered by giving you more control over the appearances you take part in. The new options include the ability to set how many fielding opportunities you take part in, with settings ranging from: All = same as before, you’ll take part in all fielding opportunities, Half = you will only participate in non-routine chances, or None = any fielding for your player will be skipped.

You will also be able to set what types of baserunning opportunities you’d like to participate in: All = you will participate in all baserunning opportunities for your player, Lead Runner = you will only be involved in situations where your player is the lead runner, or None = all your opportunities will be fast-forwarded.

Lastly, to allow you to control how much CPU teammate hitting you want to watch, we’ve given you the option to choose between the following settings: All = you will see all pitches of the at-bat, Half = half the at-bat will be fast-forwarded, and Quarter = three-quarters of the at-bat is fast-forwarded.

Can I please get anyones impressions who play franchise who totally draft from scratch. This is the first time I tried drafting like that and in the 1st round I drafted 13th and Took Halladay and in the next round I took Paplebon. from there I took 2 more starters before I picked up a catcher. I was just curious on other members draft strategy, thanks.

When you guys were at the community event did you see any balls that were hit "DIRECTLY" over an outfielders head while running straight back ??

Also did you notice if outfielders play less deep ??

In the demo, the first hit I saw was directly over my CF's head that I had to chase to the wall. the second was a creamer down the 3B line. I remember thinking, "well, I guess that answers that!"...lol.

Obviously, I was not at the community event though. Would like to know the answer for #2 as well.

              1. There is a photo I posted of a ball going over the CFers head. Now do you mean absolutely straight as an arrow back? Didn't play it enough, but if they ball is going over OFers heads, which we all saw, I would assume it does it on balls absolutely straight back.

              2. Didn't look on that one.

This question has to do with retractable roof stadiums. Does anyone know if they open and close in franchise mode? Thanks

This may have been answered, but there's been so much stuff in here, It's hard to keep track...lol.

How are they handling it this year. For example, will they be defaulted open or closed...or does it depend on the park?

                        That I do not know.
                        My guess is open though.

Yeah, with no rain possible in the game, I would assume they would be open. Since they took the first step towards realistic weather in this year's game, I would assume that they are working on rain and whatnot for next year's game. (At least I hope. That would make me jizz my pants every time I played and rain started falling down. I'd have to wear a condom each time I boot the game up. Might get expensive. )

I guess I should have been more specific. What i meant was will have that option of open or closed? Or depending on the weather (let's say it's cloudy) in places Like Safeco, Miller Park, Minute Maid, Chase Field, ETC........... will the roof be closed? Hopefully that made sense.

Also i had another question about uniform numbers. If a player gets traded to a team and he wears number 23 and that number is retired will he still wear 23 or will it change automatically? Also same question if he comes to the team and another player wears the same number will the new players number change or will we end up with 2 players wearing teh same number? thanks

Still not an option. I know it will be nice, but wait until next year. I think full weather effects were started this year, and the code to put it fully in place will happen with next year's game. Yes, a bummer, but it's not a game breaker for me. The fact that they are aware of it and will try and implement it for the next year's game is good enough in my book. From what I've seen from the Devs here, they are always listening to what we say and will try to implement whatever they can. If I ever meet up with any of them, they will get a few free drinks off of me.
