    MARLINS

    Link:http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article_ente...ment&fext=.jsp

    Hitters

    Jeremy Hermida, RF
    Song: "Stricken" by Disturbed
Hermida: "I used to have an old Mystikal song, but I switched with Amezaga and eventually picked this one. I hear it when I'm up there. I don't know if it gets me fired up, but I just pick a song every year, especially at home, where you really want to be productive."
Critic commentary: "This Florida Marlin is stricken with something: In his very first big-league at-bat, this Georgia native hit a pinch-hit grand slam out of Dolphin Stadium. Must be show-stopping skills. Either that or the ability to pick the right alt-metal head-banger to distract the opposing pitcher." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

Mike Jacobs, 1B (traded to KC)
Song: "Push It" by Rick Ross
Jacobs: "I just like the way it sounds, and I seem to be doing well at home, so that's cool."
Critic commentary: "It's kind of hard to imagine why Jacobs didn't opt for the Salt 'N Pepa classic of the same name, although I suppose Ross is more of a demanding motivator than two 5-foot-3 women with highlighted hair slinging innuendo." --Kenny Herzog, Contributing Editor, Heeb Magazine/Freelance Music Critic

    Dan Uggla, 2B
Songs: "Bust A Move" by Young MC
Uggla: "It doesn't affect me, really. It doesn't fire me up. There isn't really much to it. I just pick songs I like."
Critic commentary: "It makes enough sense for Uggla to use Young's party staple, since the slugger's been known to move the crowd into a frenzy by hitting home runs more frequently than this track gets played at bar mitzvahs." --Kenny Herzog, Contributing Editor, Heeb Magazine/Freelance Music Critic

    Wes Helms, 3B
Song: "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson
Helms: "I love guitar and drums, and this song has great drums and guitar and it gets the adrenaline going a little bit. It gets me going for my at-bat."
Critic commentary: "Maybe I'm not giving Helms' ironic sense of humor enough credit, but has he taken a good look around at his teammates? The cast of 'Melrose Place' they ain't." --Kenny Herzog, Contributing Editor, Heeb Magazine/Freelance Music Critic

    Cody Ross, OF
Song: ""Good Life" by Kanye West
Ross: "I like Kanye, and I like the lyrics to the songs. The 'Stronger' song is how I feel. No one can hold me down and if it doesn't kill me, it'll make me stronger. 'Good Life' makes me think that as ballplayers, we kind of take things for granted sometimes. Life can be a lot worse, and I think guys get too down on themselves in this game because it's a game of failure. But they shouldn't get down. We should take every day as a blessing. I like for the songs to mean something and I like to hear them. It gives me a lift and pumps me up a little bit."
Critic commentary: "I'm fairly certain Ross doesn't actually get on base unless he's actually circling them, so ironically, he might benefit from getting a little less 'Stronger.'" --Kenny Herzog, Contributing Editor, Heeb Magazine/Freelance Music Critic

    Matt Treanor, C
Songs: "Dead and Bloated" by Stone Temple Pilots
Treanor: "It's the most violent thing I could think of. Going to the plate, I want to get my mind right with something angry. I'm going to change it this year, though. I need something more violent. Just kidding."
Critic commentary: "Because that's always a mantra that gets peoples' caps turned inside-out during a ninth-inning rally. Unless Treanor's referring to how he's going to render the opposing pitcher." --Kenny Herzog, Contributing Editor, Heeb Magazine/Freelance Music Critic

    Alfredo Amezaga, OF/IF
Song: "Como Me Duele" by Valentin Elizalde; "Fello" by Fidel Rueda
Amezaga: "They're both Banda songs from Mexico, where I'm from. 'Fello' is my nickname, so I had to pick that song because he says my name over and over. And the other song, the singer was killed at a concert and he was a really good friend of my family, so I picked that song to remember him."
Critic commentary: "Elizalde is a moving choice, as he was notoriously murdered in 2006, but had already become a Banda sensation in Mexico. And if Amezaga can inspire his teammates the same way Elizalde enthralled his audiences, it's hard to argue with this selection." --Kenny Herzog, Contributing Editor, Heeb Magazine/Freelance Music Critic

      TIGERS

      Link:http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article_ente...ment&fext=.jsp

      Hitters

      Curtis Granderson, CF
Songs: "Talkin Out Da Side of Ya Neck" by Dem Franchize Boyz; "Get Like Me" by David Banner featuring Chris Brown; "Poison" by Bell Biv DeVoe
Granderson: "I like having that little bit of pick-me-up before you get into the box. I mean, it's only like five seconds of a three-hour game, so you might as well have some fun with it. I love looking out on the field and seeing who's dancing, who's got happy feet. I saw Derek Jeter smiling when the Bell Biv DeVoe song was on, and Coco (Crisp) was dancing to it. Stuff like that keeps the kid in you for the game."
Critic commentary: "Seems about that right that this cat blends the old skool with the new to serenade him up to the box. Bell Biv DeVoe builds off that New Edition vibe, while the Franchise Boyz channel Cameo rhythms with the quickness. Perfect for Granderson's game: a new-school dude with many old-skool-style tools, like speed. Can you say 23 triple trips in 2007?"--Scott Poulson-Bryant, author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

      Brandon Inge, IF
Songs: "Make It Rain" by Fat Joe featuring Lil' Wayne; "Broken Man" by Rage Against the Machine; "Coming Undone" by Korn
Inge: "I like a wide variety of music, and all three songs help get me in the right frame of mind to hit. It fires you up a little bit."

      Marcus Thames, LF
Songs: "The Boss" by Rick Ross featuring T-Pain; "Who The Heck Is That?" by Dolla featuring T-Pain and Tay Dizm; "Oh Yeah (Work)" by Lil' Scrappy featuring Sean Paul of the Youngbloodz
Thames: "I'm from the South, and I just love the hip-hop guys from the South. I hear it for a minute and then get ready for my at-bat."
Critic commentary: "I've always wondered what a dude from Mississippi was doing with the same name as that big river in England. Maybe 'cause he can be just as majestic at times, with that power he can unleash when he's feeling it. No wonder ballers like Ross and T-Pain and Dolla play him to the plate -- straight Gs like these kats specialize in the straight raw." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

      Gary Sheffield, DH
Song: This is how we do by The Game
Sheffield: "I don't really know what it is. I hear it sometimes, but it's not a big deal to me. It's more a big deal to other people. They always come up to me and ask me why I picked it. I tell them I didn't pick it."

      Ivan Rodriguez, C (FREE AGENT)
Song: "Latino Heat" (WWF entrance music for Eddie Guerrero), composed by Jim Johnston
Rodriguez: "They just play it. I don't ask for any particular song. I'm just focused in on what I'm doing, and they play whatever they play."
Critic commentary: "Apparently I-Rod envisions himself as a bat-swinging, stolen-base-robbing superhero in the mold of late Latino wrestling star Eddie Guerrero. Bringing the heat, indeed: the perennial All-Star may not be the stud he once was, but he recently tagged his 2,500th hit. Now that's hot." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

      Carlos Guillen, 3B
      Song: "Te Quiero" by Flex
      Guillen: "My kids like it."

      Ryan Raburn, IF/OF
      Song: "Hicktown" by Jason Aldean
Rayburn: "It's a good song and I like it. The first part is about jacking up trucks and I drive a big truck, so I think it kind of fits me."

        Hitters

        Freddy Sanchez, 2B
Song: "The Way I Are" by Timbaland
Critic commentary: "Fitting enough that a Pirate would adopt this song by the super-producer-turned-MC: it's a sure way to get some booty out on the dance floor." --Kenny Herzog, freelance music writer

        Doug Mientkiewicz, IF/OF
Song: "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack
Mientkiewicz: "It's just you and the [batter's] box. That's it. It's just you. No one else can help you but you. You're in the batter's box by yourself. It's a fitting term for me, so I've always liked it."
Critic commentary: "Doug Mientkiewicz, Scorpion King? The sure-handed first baseman, a consummate pro for 10 years, goes with a two-time Grammy winner that was the featured song off the soundtrack for the Rock's 2003 coming-out party as a greased-up Hollywood action hero. The track is an oft-used choice, as both Roy Oswalt and Mientkiewicz's new teammate, Craig Hansen, have used it as an entrance song." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

        Adam LaRoche, 1B
Song: "Back in Black" by AC/DC
LaRoche: "I was a sophomore or junior in high school and I used to go to the University of Arkansas to watch them play. We took a road trip to watch them go play baseball games. I remember Ryan Lundquist used to come out to AC/DC's 'Back in Black.' The place would just go nuts. We were up in the stands. It was awesome. I remember saying that if I get somewhere that I'm coming out to music, that's going to be it. Two or three years ago, I started coming out to it. I changed it once and awhile, but I always come back to it."
Critic commentary: "At the risk of being harsh or speaking in unnecessary fiscal metaphors, LaRoche might want to work on refurbishing his stats before insinuating he's found his way out of the red." --Kenny Herzog, freelance music writer

        Nate McLouth, CF
        Songs: "For You" by Staind
McLouth: "No reason. I just like the song."
Critic commentary: "You don't want to read too much into these walk-up picks. Maybe McLouth just likes the punishing guitar licks or Aaron Lewis' earnest-yet-ominous voice. There's no way this fast-rising center fielder, a first-time All-Star this season, is filled with the song's sappy, angst-ridden desire to be understood and to gain more attention. Right?" --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

        Ryan Doumit, C
        Song: "Mother" by Danzig
Doumit: "It's the first song that I had since I came [to Pittsburgh]. I just stuck with it."
Critic commentary: "Great pick -- an ominous reminder to pitchers not to mess with Doumit, from metal vets Danzig's 1988 self-titled debut. Over husky guitars and a driving hard rock beat, Glenn Danzig warns all mothers, 'If you want to find hell with me, I can show you what it's like.' Lucky for opposing teams, no Major League pitchers are also mothers." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

        Steve Pearce, RF
Song: "You Don't Know" by Eminem featuring 50 Cent
Pearce: "I wanted something with a good intro. That's really the main part -- something to get you pumped up."
Critic commentary: "A pretty risky song choice for someone who is, in fact, a relative obscurity to most baseball fans. Unless Pearce has an unusually self-deprecating sense of humor for a ballplayer." --Kenny Herzog, freelance music writer

        Jack Wilson, SS
Song: "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by the Rolling Stones
Wilson: "[Pirates broadcaster] Greg Brown gave me that nickname Jumpin' Jack Flash probably in my second year in the big leagues. They kind of just played that one day and it makes sense, I guess. I think the fans really took to the name more than I did. People want me to sign Jumpin' Jack Flash for autographs. It works for me. It's nice not always having to think of a new song every year. I think it would only be here in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is pretty much a rock town. It makes sense to [have it]."
Critic commentary: "You simply can't argue with a classic. Amidst all the nu-metal and hip-hop fare most used for walk-ups, it's nice to see someone has a taste for the old school. Wilson and the since-traded Jason Bay have been the face of the Pirates for years. But let's see what his game is like when he's 65 years on, like Mick and Keith." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

Can anyone get a clip of fireworks going off that sound good??

The Reds dont play any music after homeruns, just lots and lots of fireworks. Thanks

                Batters

                Ian Kinsler, 2B
Song: "Black Betty" by Ram Jam
Kinsler: "It sounds good. I sing to it. It's just something that everyone does in the league. You just pick out a song that you feel will get you ready to hit, I guess. I talked about it with my friends and let them pick one out. We just had some fun with it and had them come up with it, and that's what they picked."
Critic commentary: "Texas's leadoff hitter reaches back to 1977 for this Southern-fried jam fest. (But shhhh, don't tell him this has been a between-inning staple at Yankee Stadium ...)" --Anne Marie Cruz, Staff Editor, PEOPLE magazine

                Michael Young, SS
Song: "Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)" by Jay Z; "Hit The Floor" by Linkin Park; "Guess Who's Back" by Rakim
Young: "The Rakim song ... you like that one, huh? (Smiles) I try to make sure I go with one old-school song every time I pick a new one. I've got a couple more up my sleeve, too. ... I sing along sometimes. Not aloud, but in my head. I don't know if it helps, but I like music, and it's fun to mess around with it for a little bit."
Critic commentary: "The exuberant horn parts of the Jay-Z track, the slicing guitars of Linkin Park, the smooth rhymes of Rakim -- sounds like someone set this shortstop's game to music." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

                Josh Hamilton, CF
Songs: "Saved the Day" by Phillips, Craig & Dean
Hamilton: "It's a Christian song. The part I (have asked to be) played says, 'You saved the day/ the day you rolled the stone away/ the empty grave was there to say you reign.' I got on our PA announcer a little bit because he'd cut in and say my name right in the middle of it. I told him that I'm not one of these guys that are playing the song for myself. I'm playing it so everybody else can hear it. I said, 'I'm not telling you how to do your job, but if you could, just announce my name, and then play it.' That's just the way I feel about the whole situation."
Critic commentary: "Going squarely against the grain of the usual MLB mix of rock anthems and hip-hop jams, the slugger finds inspiration in this religious ballad by a trio of pastors." --Anne Marie Cruz, Staff Editor, PEOPLE magazine

                Milton Bradley, OF/DH
Song: "Say Hello" by Jay Z; "My Life" by Pharaoh
Critic commentary: "This outfielder's music taste is laced with the same old-school rhythm as his famous board-game name. But Bradley's apparently ain't playin' no games: these beats rep some serious life-and-death stuff." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

                Hank Blalock, 3B
                Song: "New Disease" by Disturbed
Critic commentary: "Apparently nothing can rattle this third baseman if this blend of melodic alt-rock and head-banging rawness is what follows him to the plate. I guess this new disease helps him bring the sickness." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

Gerald Laird, C (Traded I believe)
Song: "Superstar" by Lupe Fiasco featuring Matthew Santos
Laird: "I just chose it because I like the beat and the words. Basically, everyone up here, I think, is a superstar to a lot of people, so I think it's a good song and it's got a good melody, and it gets me going for my at-bat. I like to hear it."
Critic commentary: "Many scratched their heads when Lupe Fiasco -- solid but no superstar -- picked this bold track as the lead single off his latest album, The Cool. So it's fitting that Laird, a solid catcher but by no means an All-Star, would go with it as his walk-up track. A bit incongruous, but hey, whatever works for you, Gerald." --Jim Welte, Editor, MP3.com

                Frank Catalanotto, OF/DH
Songs: "Kickstart My Heart" by Motley Crue; "Mr. Brownstone" by Guns N' Roses; "Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed
Catalanotto: "I just like upbeat music, something hard just to get you pumped up. I usually hear it once that guy in front of you makes an out. Then they start it up pretty quick. I just basically wrote down a bunch of songs and said, 'Just play these whenever.'"
Critic commentary: "Yowza! Nothing like a couple of ax-grinding classic rockers to get a DH ready to jack a few outta there." --Anne Marie Cruz, Staff Editor, PEOPLE magazine

                Marlon Byrd, OF
                Song: "Work" by Gangstarr
Byrd: "Last year, Desi Relaford was coming up to bat to it in Triple-A, and I liked the song, so when I came up, I called him and said I need a song, so I asked him if I could take his song and he said, 'Go right ahead.' I started hitting with it and I stuck with it. It gets me going. I pick one song per year and stick with it."
Critic commentary: : "Although it hasn't yet helped Byrd convince manager Ron Washington to give him more at-bats, this is an absolutely outstanding choice. Set to a trademark beat from hip-hop legend DJ Premier, the track finds the perfect balance between swagger and devotion to 'puttin' in work.'" --Jim Welte, Editor, MP3.com
                Working on these now....
