Ok played 2 games.... Ummm is it just me or are hits hard to come by without guess pitch on? Visually looks great, plays ok although 08 will be tough to beat..... I do see some lag during pitches, that better be cleared up by release day.... all in all should be a great game when nem is done tweaking and knight completes his rosters

I played '08 on the exact same setup last year. I don't see why something would get that much worse over one year of bettering the game.

I hope not. It should be night time by the 3rd/4th inning, and that's represented well in the demo and I hope in the retail version.

Not bad, not bad at all. The lighting in the beginning made it a little difficult to see the ball. Had one hiccup: The rays threw my guy out at third for the final out but the third baseball never tagged him. Just stood there with one foot on the base and glove reached out ready for the throw, even after receiving it. The ump called me out and everyone ran off the field but left the 3rd baseman still standing there, with an outreached glove. lol

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Okay here are my in depth impressions:

Everything is better than it was in 08.

After I found out that the framerate problem is not an issue, everything else was just amazing. I don't know, it just feels more realistic this year. The balls break better from the pitcher, the presentation is better, the crowds "feel" is better, just about every single thing is better.

I kinda miss the old lineup screen, where they went through name by name, but not a big deal, and a couple of the replay angles that were in 08 ALL the time were seen, which made me cringe, but the broadcast replays SO made up for any of the same old replay angles. They look STUNNING.

All in all, 3rd of March can't get here fast enough!

Playing on a Samsung 46in LCD 550 1080p was choppy at first. Well, I forced it to 1080p, and converted HDMI2-PC input and it actually decreased the choppiness completely, and beautified the graphics. Dont really understand it but its obviously my TV's fault. By the way the game is SICK! I stand corrected, Chris and everyone else at SCEA

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

Wow, what a game. Kazmir was holding me to a no-hitter, while his team had 4 hits. I gunned a guy down trying to stretch 3 with the cut-off in the second. And then Howard, who struck out the previous at back, ended the game with a Walk-Off Home Run.

The Lighting, FANTASTIC. The crowd, AMAZING, especially how you can see the guys scooting by other fans sitting when trying to get out, nice touch. The game looks more polished, and seems to have better textures, etc than '08. The players just "pop" more.

The controls are GREAT, they feel much tighter, reminds me of MVP. They dont feel as "floaty" as '08, or rather, '08 now feels a bit floatier than this after playing this.

The frame-rate is suspect, as in, it feels to dip when the pitcher goes into his windup, but that can all be due to the early build this is, and easily cleaned up. And the replay cuts are smooth as glass, and dont have that slight hitch '08 had.

You can check swings, but I also think that all plays into player's plate discipline, etc in certain counts. More realistic this way.

And the meter, while it is much improved, I will still use classic (and did in the demo), since it does not take my eyes away from the action. Love the catcher dropping signs, and batters/players chewing gum. And the behind the pitcher camera angles seem better tweaked, as well as the pitcher when you are at bat is more imposing, than before.

Did I mention the progressive lighting was AMAZING? Best I seen in a sports game yet.

Not to get nitpicky because it would depend on what time of year, but in June and July it doesn't get dark until around 9 o'clock. Based on an average paced game that started at 7 that wouldn't be until the 6th inning.

Believe me, the transition is amazing the way it is, and I could care less if a game started and was dark by the 4th.

                          I was merely curious.

Two of the new foul ball swing animations look just like batting stance guy

Ryan Howard has his custom warm up swing.

Victorino looks like he has the jitters. Ruiz has the right motion but just way too much. Most of the stances are better than last year though.

After you pick your pitch and move the cursor, if you let go of the cursor... will it go back to the middle, meaning you have to hold the cursor where you want it while you do the meter?

Ok so I know this is a demo so all the framerates and other crap doesnt bother me a bit. Here are some pro's and cons to what I think about the game. If its early build stuff then someone from SCEA stop me as to I have no idea what yall fixed and didnt.

                                Pros

Great hit variety-loved the different strokes in the game.
Pitch Break- Finally! A 2sfb that is nasty. Great tweak guys!
Crowd noise- much more realistic this year
                                Atmoshpere is upgraded to.
All the defensive gripes I had from last year are gone, much better on the sense of urgency.
Good to see a better attempt at batter/oitcher mocap!
Pitching was aweosme for me...loved the new meter
                                Cons
While some stances are right on, others are not really good.
Longoria - Think stephen drew and your pretty close- espicially with the abt movement, the one in the game is off. http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/media/v...631811&c_id=tb

Navarro- has a tapping motion with his bat and he doesnt lean as much. http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/media/v...536563&c_id=tb

With pena I know he changes it but he always keeps the hands closer to the body. In the game its kinda far away and looks weird

Utley taps his bat at the last second

                                The rest were good

                                2. Player models were off quite a bit as far a actual meat on their bones. Ryan Howard and evan longoria are skinny dudes in the demo but in real life they are huge. At tleast put them as having muscualr physiques. (This might be just an early build deal) When in doubt, the golden rule is a 6'3 215+ dude is now way skinny.Make them look athletic.

These are really my only gripes. For me it big and hopefully fixable but if not no biggie. Great game it seems this year and cant wait for the final build
