Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
What concerns me is if the devs never HAD the issue in the first place, it's sensitive to some people's setup (whatever that may be), and so it wouldn't have been "fixed" without these people coming forward because no one knew it existed in the first place.
If that's not the case, and it was something that was in an early build and was already fixed (and we KNOW this) then great! I apologize in advance.
That's why I'm not sure why people trying to figure out what and why the framerate issues are being caused by is such an insult. That's the whole point of this, to deliver the best product possible.Comment

I can understand some panic, with all those who see it are told by a dev, they themselves do not see it.
Peace.Comment

I'm wondering if you guys have to clear your PS3's somehow?
Is there some sort of cache in the system?
I'll take some video with my DVR later...and post it....and you guys tell me if you see the same lag as you have....because I'm not seeing it.
Weird.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I didn't take it out of context. No offense, I can read. Be smart with me if you want, but there appears to be a panic over this.
Who said it doesn't exist? For those of you unfortunate enough to have it, don't pretend it DOES exist for those who DON'T see it. See how that works?
I guess this can turn into an absolute frame rate thread, even though we DIDN"T see it in San Diego, and didn't Brunnoce just post he saw it in the 08 demo? So, keep posting away.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I don't see it. I'm straining my eyes, it's not there FOR ME. The thing about the ball being choppy to the plate and the swings being choppy. If I saw it, I'd tell you. I, and others don't see this. The problem, I don't know. We are all playing the same demo. Is there another variable?
Peace.
The only conclusion I can come up with, because it is happening on so many different PS3 models, TV sets, TV types, etc, and not on the very same set ups to others ... is that some people are more sensitive to frame rate dips.
Other than that I am stumped.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Loving the demo. The lighting is so nice it's scary. In my first game I hit a fly ball into the RF corner and when the fielder was running back to the track to make the play, he went in and out of the shadows. For a few seconds the light was so bright on his face that I thought I was seeing the "ghost face" bug from '07 (told you it was scary). Luckily upon reviewing the replay it was just the intense lighting effect at that moment that made him appear ghostly (whew). Pitching and hitting do feel a bit different, but I didn't expect it to be exactly the same. I notice that I am swinging early on allot of pitches, which is not a problem I really had in previous years. I just chalk it up to the breaking pitches being more deceiving and me having to learn to adjust.
I can't really tell for sure if I'm seeing frame rate issues per say, but I did notice a bit of "choppiness" on a few occasions and it made me wonder about this. This was before coming here to OS to read everyone's impressions (I always play for myself before reading impressions). Then I came here and saw that some others were mentioning this too. What I noticed was rather mild and by no means game killing, as it appears some others are seeing it much worse than anything I experienced. Hopefully this will be a non issue once the game is released since the community reps didn't see this at the event last week, and the SCEA guys aren't seeing it.
Overall, I absolutely love the demo. In just 3 (shortened) games I already have seen numerous new fielding animations, cut scenes, and all kinds of new hit variety (I was giggling like a schoolgirl the the whole time). The hitting and pitching both seem a bit more challenging, which I think is a good thing. The commentary is stellar as usual and the game looks better than any sports game I've ever seen. Outstanding job by SCEA as usual. The baseball season just wouldn't be the same without this game, I don't know what I'd do without it (although I'll guarantee that my wife has a long list of suggestions).

so much for impressions.
Can we move the framerate discussion to this thread...

They are bouncing ideas off each other as to what may be causing this.Last edited by countryboy; 02-06-2009, 02:41 PM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Personally I think all frame rate issues should be directed to the thread devoted to it as its cluttering up this thread. But if everyone respected the fact that this is an issue for a sizeable minority of us then it would probably settle down. Everytime I read someone say "I don't see it and it won't be a problem" I get annoyed the argument starts all over again.
I'm glad you don't see it in the demo or when you were in San Diego Jim. It probably means you won't see it at all in March. But there is a good chance I will see it imo. It's not the end of the world but I'm tired of hearing people basically telling me to be quiet or don't worry about it. It IS a concern for some of us.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
OK boys, for all the Samsung owners out there. I found a fix.
I used this link to help me out:http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1110472&page=2
What I did, was switch the mode to game. There should be a button on the remote that comes with the TV that says E.MODE. You hit that until GAME comes up. This will actually call it ENTERTAINMENT.
I then renamed my HDMI2 input to PC.
I'm actually playing the game in 1080p with no lag, no stuttering, NOTHING!
The only drawback I'm seeing is that the screen is a little darker and I can't change it. But honestly, who cares.
YES!!! Now I see what others we're talking about!!
Thanks goes out to Jim and Guru.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Just tried it. Catcher cam for both hitting and pitching. It only seems to happen, and it is a slight animation/vibration/stutter and not as smooth as the rest of the time, when the pitch selection is made and the pitcher goes into his set.
You can see the batter smooth as silk in his stance (more noticeable on more animated batter stances) and as soon as you (or the CPU if you are hitting) selects pitch, it has that slight frame dip to it.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I was hoping that there was some sort of memory clear like on a PC.
I'll fire it up in a little while and get the video out.
Maybe I'm just blinded by love!(they say it happens you know
)
