I walked in to a Target (Highland Park) just for shiggles, and to my surprise, they had a cart full of 2k9 and MLB 09. I waited for the electronics rep to return and asked if I could grab a copy before he stocks them on the shelves....

However, as I expected, he told me that the computer won't let 'em sell them till the 3rd

We're screwed....sadly there isn't any mom & pop stores in the Chicago burbs

I tried a bunch of Wal-Marts today and same thing. They just won't budge.

Southern New England is a no-show. (Pun intended. ) I went to three Wal-Marts, four GameStops, a few Best-Buys, and a Target. There are absolutely no mom and pop shops here in SE, CT. In fact, I don't think there has ever been a mom and pop shop around here. At the GameStops, it was all the same story:

Me: Do you guys have MLB 09: The Show for the PS3?"
Clerks: Yes we have it, but we can't sell it.
Me: Would you be willing to just check one out as a pre-order, then I'll also buy this $25 gift card and give it to the polite clerk who helped a friend out?
Clerks: Sorry. Can't do that. Do you have a 360?
Me: No.
Clerks: Do you want to buy one?
Me: <Walks out of the store dejected.>

The closest I got was when I went to a Target near my home. I went to the electronics section and put on that "confused shopper needs help" act. The person working the area was a 5'8", 330 pound woman with maybe three teeth and impotence inducing looks. I asked her if they had the game yet? She said "Yeah, we got a few boxes of them. Street date is the 3rd, however, so I can't sell it to you......................... but maybe a nice dinner and a movie could change my mind?"

I immediately turned various shades of green and hastily made it out of the store. I love the game, but I'm not going to put myself through years of psychotherapy and erectile dysfunction drugs for it.

I called the Wally in Lansing, IL on Torrence and the lady said they had it in stock and available to sell....I drive the 30 miles to get there and it turns out its for PSP not PS3...What a screw job....I fired the broad right there on the spot...so for anyone driving to the Wally on Torrence and see a lady walking on the side of the road with a Walmart smock on, give her the finger!!

Tomorrow I can't check since I'm going to the bulls game. Sunday I have to finish homework, and Monday through Friday I have tryouts for baseball. No MLB 09 for me for a while if I don't get it this weekend.

Honestly, I desperately want this game...we all do. I seriously doubt though that we will be able to get it until Tuesday. Stores are really intent on keeping it under wraps...literally. I will say this though, so much for that myth that the games can only be shipped by law as early as March 1st.

I am keeping my eyes open. I am willing to drive as far as I need to. I am in the Richmond Hampton Roads area in Virginia. PM me if anyone finds a copy

Just got mine from a store called video game buddy in Astoria, Queens. Its on Steinway street and 23rd avenue. I asked the guy how many he had left(so I would know whether to mention it here), and he said they had 5 left. The guy held the store open for me to get over and get it, but they're closed by now. just picked up the game in Jersey. I was gonna try the place i got it early last year in Newark but someone let me know that a place up North def had it so i called them and they said they had it and when i got there they brought at least 10 more copies to have up front at the desk. I won't say the name of the store but i'll just say if you put 815 Broad Ave N., Ridgefield, NJ in your gps there may be something there that could help you. Also, the entrance is on the side of the building below the main part of the building which is another store.

Sadly this is right by my house at home, but because I am at school in Rutgers I never am able to pick up MLB early.

Alot of us got lucky at wal mart last year. I wonder if they got hit with some big fines? I got mine saturday morning last year so I am still holding out hope that I can get a copy this weekend.
