Man...I know I'm late to the party, but wow. Jacoby is top 5? I mean...I'm a Red Sox fan and I think he's an awesome CF, but I'm like, "huh?"

    Not a bad list though.

Yeah, you are right there. Plus since Brandon Moss is their 3rd outfielder until Tabata gets here and he is even worse than McLouth and needs to be in RF.

For 2009, defensivly for the Pirates the best OF combination would be Morgan - McCutchen - McLouth. However, offensivly the best combination would be McLouth - McCutchen - Moss.

lol...you're right. I was just alluding to the fact that he's virtually in a tie for #5 with Upton is all. I'll have no complaints if he lives up to that in real like though. He's certainly capable...just not consistent enough. But he's still a puppy...lol. We'll see.

Interesting and something I actually like. Whether I or anyone agrees with the Top 5 or not, this is the best way to rule out bias and opinion in a roster set.

To add more fuel to the fire, The Hardball Times annual shows Sizemore's fielding grade(as determined by his number of Out of Zone plays and his revised Zone rating) as an A, while Hamilton's is a B. Meanwhile, their GPA(Gross Production Average, which is OBP*1.8+SLG/4 and is adjusted for park) is .294 for Sizemore, and .291 for Hamilton. It is viewed on the same scale as batting average.

Hamilton's home and road splits are like nights and day, 1.019 OPS at home, .779 on the road.

Grady Sizemore is the best defensive CF in the game, and one of the best on overall offense as well. Honestly, he is a top10 player in all of baseball. It's ridiculous to think Hamilton is better than him. Unfortunately for Josh, SCEA does not have a "conquering drug abuse" attribute, or else maybe he would give Grady a run for his money.

Yeah, and I am a White Sox fan.

Check it out, another position the DBacks don't have a top player in! I know Chris Snyder will not make the catcher's top 10, so it looks like my last hope is Justin Upton lol. Did I miss the SS list? Stephen Drew might crack that one.

Same here. Not 1 White Sox player in any of the top 10 players. If Carlos Quentin can't crack a top10, I have no hope for Dye.

Then again, Thome basically cracks to top10 DH by default (only 14 to choose from).

If defense is so important in overall rating, where's Johnny Damon? LOL!

He may have the worst arm I have ever seen. It's like a wet noodle.

Wow, way to screw over Granderson. The guy is an extra base machine, has good speed and is a great defensive player.

I can tell you guys haven't watched him play very much. Having him behind guys like Taveras and Jacoby is ridiculuos. He has better offensive and defensive numbers in his career than both those guys.

You know for once I wish a sports game didn't have butchered ratings out of the box so I wouldn't have to go through and edit every team. I can only dream.

Glad to see the Boston/ New York bias in ratings and in baseball in general is alive and kicking. Oh how I love it.

Oh well, at least you can edit them yourself. Just wish I could spend more time playing instead of editing.

I think consistency will come with consistent play time. He had to trade duties with Coco all year, and especially in his first "full time, yet it was part time year".

When Coco was hurt late the year before, Ellsbury was beast as an every day player. And his speed is phenomenal.

Pretty sure by all metrics, Carlos Gomez is far and away the best CF in the game on D. That being said, Grady's certainly no slouch.

I still have trouble buying that these fielding ratings were derived from any sort of meaningful stats, because I'm unaware of any that say what these ratings do, but it's okay.

They've certainly done a MUCH better job rating than any other baseball games in recent memory.
