Re: Top 5 Center Fielders in MLB09 The Show
Ellsbury is the 6th best CF in baseball? Huh?
I know he stole 50 bases, but .280/.336/.394 with only 22 doubles, 9 HR and 47 RBI?

Re: Top 5 Center Fielders in MLB09 The Show
It looks to me like the defensive ratings have a TON to do with the overall bar, which is why Victorino is so high. His hitting numbers aren't all that great, but his defensive numbers are terrific (as they should be).
I don't really care the order that guys are rated, as long as that isn't the main thing that the AI considers when trading players. I hate when I can trade a great defensive player who can't hit, for a great hitter who can't play defense, just because their overall bar is about equal.
Any chance we can see pitchers next? I know you're going in order across the outfield, but I really wanna check out the pitcher rating categories that will be in there this year.Comment

Im a Sox fan and even I had to roll my eyes at that one. He probably shouldn't even be in the top 10, not yet anyway. We're still waiting to see how he develops (including defensively).Comment

Re: Top 5 Center Fielders in MLB09 The Show
When ratings are based off stats, I can't argue.
I bet these guys perform up to their standards during a season."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Top 5 Center Fielders in MLB09 The Show
Nope, I like the phillies for what they are, a good team that plays as a team. Utley is amazing and howard is a stud. But victorino the 2nd best CF. Even a real philly fan has to be laughing his tail off at that. I mean, he had his little moments in the field and on the basepaths last year but what else?Comment

Re: Top 5 Center Fielders in MLB09 The Show
lol, wow, I cant believe Wells and Elsbury are that high. If Defensive and baserunning abilities matter so much to overall stats... Where the heck is Carlos Gomez, Matt Kemp, Nate McLouth. Rick Ankiel, hes got a cannon arm and fierce power. Its a disputable list, but thats why they post this. Its fun to pick apart. Ellsbury is just overrated, maybe its because Im a Yankees fan.Comment
