After reading Tomba's blog, I have to be cautious when agreeing with him because I think its ludicrous to say MLB2k is a better game at this point; however, I totally agree with his point here. Firstly, I am a huge Show fan, having bought the PS3 last year solely for this game, but although the game does look amazing with the new lighting, and not to mention some of the gameplay and franchise tweaks that are sure to make the game even better, I still find myself very disappointed with the pitching and hitting motions (they just do not look very natural), as well as the lack of individual personality from player to player, besides their faces. This is one area in my mind that MLB2k is far ahead of the Show. They're signature styles look much closer to their real-life counterparts than the Show (they still do not have the right equipment for their cover athelete for the second year in a row). Also, the mere fact that 2k allows you to edit nearly every detail of a player's equipment goes a long way towards making each player unique, without looking a little generic as they do in the Show. Finally, the MLB 2k's use of their new presentation camera angles go a long way towards making you feel as though you are watching a real live broadcast. I know its still early and I should wait for the game, but I am slightly disappointed that the Show has yet to keep pace with 2k in these areas. I'm still only buying the Show as it is the better game, but there is more to wanted in the areas of player personality and presentation. -

Re: MLB 09 The Show Video: Dodgers @ Giants (PS3)
Someone probably pointed it out by now, but did anyone catch the mass of duplicates in the crowd when Loney was coming up to bat? That was really bad and noticeable, but the rest of it was amazing - this game looks great graphically and the gameplay seems to have moved along since the demo as well. Can't wait.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Video: Dodgers @ Giants (PS3)
This is the first year I've given much attention to The Show (never had a PS2/PS3). I'm impressed with the smoothness of animations and obviously the gorgeous lighting. Also, the atmosphere is very well done.
I'm not too crazy about the player models. The players look almost uncomfortable at times. Also, when a batter takes a pitch, his head doesn't show much movement, never watching the ball's progress. I also have to say that I don't see the strikes being taken, and in fact, you could argue these batters are swinging at a lot of first pitch balls.
Obviously, the majority love this game, so it's doing things right. I'm just a little underwhelmed with the amount of hype it has received and what I've actually seen.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Quintuplets day, haha. They had the exact same motions at the exact same time and everything, it's pretty bad. It's hardly a game-killer though, just jumps out when you're looking at the crowd (or even when you're not looking at the crowd, in this instance).Comment

Nice vid. The shadows are nice, and the scoreboard is finally updated. They even have the Legends Club in the wall. There even seemed to be a small hurricane blowing the Bay waters in the background.Comment
