Is it me, or are all 1B's still gold glove caliber like last year? I have yet in 20-25 games seen a 1B botch a play. These guy pick every low throw out of the ground and never seem to misplay a single bad throw. It's an observation but has anyone seen these guys misplay a ball?

I had a screamer to the 1st baseman that should have been handled and it took a wicked hop over the glove and off his chest (second time I've seen that. first was on Chipper at 3rd)

i can't remember if it was a charged error or not.

Just to make myself clear, just because I have a Sox avatar, doesn't mean I play all my games as the Sox with Youkilis at 1B. The dude is a vaccum so he shouldn't make too many errors. I've played only exhibition games thus far, and I've played with or against every team in the game. It seems that Giambi and Youkilis have the same fielding abilities. Just knowing that someone has seen a botched short hop scoop would make me sleep better at night.

I'm 2-1 on Legend in my "Official" Franchise. Now it was the Orioles but I'll take it....

I am always amused when I see folks say a game has "comeback" AI in any sports game...these guys work hard enough to try and get everything that is supposed to be programmed into the game done in the development time, why would they add something they DON'T have to add? Besides that, I imagine it would be pretty difficult to program anyway. To top it off, guys are playing on LEGEND and complaining? There are FIVE levels of difficulty...try one that's a little lower.

I could have easily mercy ruled the Mariners if I wanted to keep playing on HOF.

This game is so much fun on Legend, because I can actually lose and still feel like it didn't cheat me out of winning.

Edit: I think I also found my franchise team...

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions

I ran this analogy by people at another forum I frequent. Let me know if you agree.

Home Runs are to MLB 09 as Interceptions are to NCAA 09.

Yes I think it's that big of a problem. I've played 15 games or so online. I average 2 runs a game and have a winning record. Why? Because I keep the ball in the park. Every single game that I've lost has been from someone hitting multiple homers. The most runs manufactured(scored from stealing bases and timely hitting) against me in a game are 2.

Just an opinion. I still love this game for the most part.

                          Ok....this is getting pathetic now

                          tied game in legend mode

                          1-1 in the ninth inning

i am the yankees on the road vs the sox

the sox have the winning run on second and 2 outs

Youk hits a sharp single to left i am charging in to get the ball and fire home to cut the runner down or hold him at third

everything is going fine when i am charging the ball...then all of a sudden the game takes over with one of these horrible new angle animations towards the ball...and Swisher does this little slow stop and fields the ball with this lazy approach...i fire it to home but he throws one of those casual i cant control throws home and the runner scores....

wtf...if the animation did not take over...that guy was a dead duck at home...the ball was hit way to hard for him to score...

i even replayed it....this is horrible...why did SCEA take more control of fielding this year...I am so pissed right now...those new outfielder animations do nothing but help the cpu....

Just want to say this game is like crack. I'm having some great games and a lot of fun despite the fact I'm losing more than winning.

At this point my one major complaint is the errors. There just aren't enough on All-Star for the user and I strongly believe the fielding error slider is broken. I think the slider only creates extra errors for the cpu while simply diminishing the plays I make in the field (with no recorded errors). It just doesn't work well. I've been playing every game with the error slider between 8 and 10 on All-Star and its rare when I boot a ball. Since I started my seasons, I don't think I have a single error in five Tiger games and I know I haven't committed a single error in 4 games with the Reds. The Reds defense is ranked 27th in the game I think. My exhibition games have been largely the same. If the slider is maxed out, you definitely see more cpu errors but not more user errors.

I know its not a lot of games yet but I feel it isn't right and I hope its patched. As guys start getting into their seasons/franchises I want people to please keep an eye on the number of errors for their user team (cpu can be fine with the slider imo). At least on All-Star, its way too low imo. The average team committed 99 errors last year which is around 6 errors every 10 games.

I'm playing with the Reds as well and Encarnacion is an error machine. Vooto has also made some miscues at 1B. I'm 35 games into my franchise. I'll check my sliders and attributes and PM them to you if you want.
