Yeah, people do jump down your throat around here for saying negative things about this game.

I completely appreciate the effort that the SCEA guys put in, not only to make the game, but to spend time on the boards interacting with the people who play the game. They obviously put in countless hours of work to create such a gorgeous game that on the field is peerless in the history of baseball gaming, and perhaps sports gaming in general.

All that to say, the sheer number of things that they missed is a bit staggering when you consider all they've accomplished. Perhaps we're all a bit spoiled and perhaps we have expectations that are more than just slightly lofty. But that doesn't excuse much of what's wrong with this game on a system as powerful as the PS3.

For instance, I have a hard time believing that Sony had QA people tell them that the roster management screens were easy to use and felt better than last year's. There's just no way they honestly sat there and said to themselves, "yeah, I love not being able to see clearly who is and isn't on the 40-man roster and you guys are right, swapping players on one screen and one list is great".

Hidden stances and pitching deliveries? From what I understand they specifically told people on this board that they were taking care of that. Even to the most ardent supporters around here, having the developers tell you something and then not follow through has to be annoying.

Player progression, does it even work?

Coaches, do they really have an impact on the game?

The draft and draft picks, did you actually read the rules on that?

Retiring stars in their prime. WTF?

There are more examples (if you can believe that), but I think the point is clear. I do love this game, it's a blast to play, but unless the majority of the issues can be fixed with a patch or two, ultimately the overall experience of The Show 09 will be a disappointing one for me.

--Could not agree more. I spent hours looking for the easier way to manage my roster because I could not believe this is how it was really set up. I was convinced that I was just not in the correct screen

Player progression, does it even work?

-- Another thing that I do no understand that can be this bad. I am playing with my O's and I am trying to "rebuild" the team so I tried to sim a season. I was amazed with the results of progression.

Coaches, do they really have an impact on the game?

-- I really do not know. It took me an hour to figure out to even fire my coach!

The draft and draft picks, did you actually read the rules on that?

-- Probably the most annoying to me. This is something that I was really looking forward to with this game and really enjoyed until I saw how it was played out.

        Guess Pitch intermittently not functioning

        • Using Classic 1/6.
        • Playing RTTS mode on legend difficulty.

While at bat, I've encountered instances where the game won't allow me to guess a pitch. This usually occurs on the second pitch of the at bat. As a workaround, I quickly pause the game before the pitcher has an opportunity to pitch again and then I go back to the game to resume my at bat.

You don't have to restart your franchise everytime a patch is released.

I dont know if it belongs here but the check swing button is flawed IMO. it seems like it only works whenever it feels like it. I hate grounding into double plays when I have barely put any pressure at all on the button trying to lay off a pitch.

That probably explains why there are pitchers in my RTTS season who have more saves than innings pitched. And why the overall save numbers seem so high.

This was a weird one!! PLaying online, I was Boston against Oakland, winning 3-2, I retire him in the bottom of the 4th for the 3rd out, now my turn to bat.

He pauses, I think to make a pitching change..when he unpauses, it shows HIS next batter up at the plate!! Instead of him batting though, he walks away from the plate looking back at the ump like he just struck out. The game just pauses there. Then he paused it again, and when he unpaused noone was at bat, my pitcher and defense were in the field, and my pitcher walks off the mound but the D stays there and nothing happens!!

We waited a while he and I both paused a few times, tried to wait it out, every time we unpaused my pitcher would be back on the mound but walk off like he had just struck out what he thought was the 3rd out, but the defense was still in position.

We just had to exit the game!

does anyone know why there is framerate stutter with a left handed pitcher? Specifically from picher cams and on replays. I also notice a stutter on fouls balls just down the line. Thinking maybe it has something to do with the crowd and to much on the screen at once?

Playing as the Dodgers against the Padres bottom of the sixth my first guy coming up to bat and I pause and goto the bullpen screen to warm a pitcher up and it won't let me leave saying I need to replace Josh Geer??? Josh Geer is the Padres pitcher and I can't get out of the bullpen screen, stuck there now and I think I'm going to have to quit my game. Sucks since it's a 2-2 tie.

During my Franchise at Angel Stadium, Torii Hunter was going after a fly ball and went through the outfield wall and caught it. Has anyone else noticed anything similiar?

how does a pitcher getting a 2 inning save explain why some pitchers in your league have more saves than innings???? that is counter-intuitive

technically, you can have 3 saves for every inning pitched if your manager brings you in to get the final out in close games

THAT would explain why pitchers in your league have more saves than innings pitched, not an unearned 2 inning save

So by unplayable, I mean it is literally unplayable. Half the time it freezes loading the game, then half of the games I do get to play are marred by statistical errors for my player. So only about 25% of the games I play actually are accurate and run with no problems. I can't speak on quick games and franchise since I haven't really touched those. But when I hear guys like Arod retiring after the first year in franchise it doesn't give me much hope for that mode either.

Perhaps I was a bit out of line to say unplayable. I should have said its unplayable about 75% of the time...
you should probably pass on mlb this year and sit back and wait for Michigan football in the fall....

on second thought, hopefully they'll patch mlb for you!

When he came in he may have been within the qualifications of a save, then if they opened it up later, as long as he remained in the game, he still would be credited with one.
