    'Arm Acc' is for fielding

If your pitches are not going wear you wanted them to go and sometimes they are even completely off and wild, bump up that pitches control attribute.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

just got called up to MLB for the Indians! I'm in year 4 and it finally happened. Im freaking excited ...a lot of work put into the minor league system and it was awesome playing in a MLB park. My 1st game we were @ Seattle and I robbed a HR, and my 1st hit of my career was an RBI single. Its ironic because the Mariners were the team who drafted me and who later traded me.

Then I hit my 1st HR just barely over the wall @ Miller Park a day later.

In my 1st home game for the Indians at beautiful Progressive Park I hit a HR off the 1st pitch I got from Bronson Arroyo and the Reds (my favorite/hometown team)

      So far in the Majors I'm hitting .333 with 2 HR's and 3 RBI's

I spent 3 and a half long years in the minors. (I was called up June 22) and I finally earned my spot on the club.

Hopefully I can stay here and help the Tribe get back to the ALCS like they did in 2011.

        Nice!

In my first season, I was drafted by the Seattle Mariners. Decided to make a SP, with a 4FSB, SL, 12-6CV. I had a HORRIBLE first spring for them and got sent down to AA in West Tennessee. I finished the season leading in almost every catagorey and 4th in the rotation spot.

I'm now in my second season and gave up NO runs in ST. So currently I am coming out of the pen in the majors. It is a nice transition going from AA to the MLB. I had 1 good relief start and got knocked around on my next 2. But then I had 2 more great outings and they gave me a trial run as the 5th starter. I went 5 innings, only allowing 2 runs but was sent back to the pen.

        Current stats consist of 21.1IP, 6BB, 18H, 3HR allowed, 15K, sporting a 2.49 ERA and a record of 0-1.

But as mentioned with others, my AA team came in second-to-last in their division the first half, and last in the second half. Then currently I'm in the first month of the opening of the 2010 season and the Mariners haven't even won a series, standing in last place in the AL West.

What kind of difficulty are you guys using?

I actually have Psycho's sliders applied to my RTTS.

It might be making it a bit easier for myself, dunno.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

I really need to up the difficulty. I've been playing on default and I was really doing well in AAA, and as a result I planned on upping the difficulty because I thought it was getting too easy. But when I started my third year on the Marlins' roster starting in LF, I didn't want to overwhelm myself my adjusting to a new difficulty AND adjusting to the jump to the bigs. Well, I'm currently batting close to 400 and have 13 HRs and 28 RBIs (as a 20 year-old with stats resulting in an overall 'B') and it's not even the end of April. I'm second in MVP voting.

I think what I'm going to do is start a new RTTS with the difficulty higher so I can get a little used to batting at that difficulty, then start playing on that difficulty with my normal RTTS guy. I just don't want to up the difficulty and start coming up with 0-fors for a month straight.

Yeah the Mariners are horrible. I was with them for a year in a half (One year in AA, 1/2 year in AAA) before being traded to Baltimore who later traded me to Cleveland. I like to keep track off my former teams and all 4 years so far I've never seen them out of last place. Last year (2011) they won like 58 games and only Baltimore (my other former team who also traded me ) won 56 games.

It was nice to play my 1st MLB game against the team who formerly drafted me. And we swept the Series. But the Indians are in 4th place in the AL Central but they did go to the ALCS last year.

I use default all-star and their perfect for me.

                2009 AA: .276 5 HR's 50 RBI's
                2010 AAA: .292 5 HR's 55 RBI's
                2011 AAA: .252 2 HR's 16 RBI's (Injured majority of the year only had 108 AB's)
                2012 AAA (April and May before being called up) .368 2 HR's 28 RBI's
                2012 MLB: (6 Games) .333 2 HR's 3 RBI's

So I'm getting pretty decent numbers my hitting is definently impproving. Like I said I spent 3 and a half years in the minors before being called up so I'm in no way breezing through this game.

It takes full concentration for me ever AB to get a hit, and i love it.

Can someone explain how exactly the options work in this game? I guess I need clarification.

My guy has around 2.5 years MLB experience (actual time in the majors), is out of options, but on the 40-man. After ST to begin the season, I was "Sent outright to AAA" then sent from AAA to AA, all on the same day (3/1).

So, my question is....since I don't have the required 6 years to be free agent, but I also am out of options, shouldn't the team have had to put me on waivers before I could get sent to the minors?

I have heard a few folks complaining about the goals but I was just wondering if you guys always reach you goals. I am still in my first season almost 3 months in. I just got called up to AAA but my last set of goals I did not complete any of them. That was my second time in a row that I missed most of my goals. The first time was an easy warning but the second time they said they were going to do something I would not like. It seems like I am not going to meet these goals either. Every time I get points I use it towards my goals. I am batting like .380 in AAA but they sit me out about every third game so I do not get many chances at points. How do you go about allocating points for your goals. Any advice would be appreciated.

I try to pass most of my goals. What I mean is say I have 6 goals I try to pass 4, if I have 5 goals I pass 3, etc. I dont pass all of them because if you pass more than half of them the manager will look at that as if you passed all of them, make sense? That way you can allocate your points you have remaining to other things you want your player to work on such as speed or power.

Getting points is difficult. The best thing to do is pass all the in-game goals. If the manager wants you to drive in a run, then driving in a run gets you 15-25 points. Thats the best advice i can give is to try your best to pass all your in-game goals.

Also doing little things can help you too. Stealing bases gives you 10 points. Getting a walk gives you points too I believe. Getting base hits, RBI's, doubles, triples, etc all give you points.

Some goals seem pretty tough to beat especially if you dont play all the time. Can you ask your manager for more playing time?

Hope this helps, I havent failed a set of goals in 2 seasons. I never complete all my goals but you dont have to, just complete the majority and your good to go.

The way I understand it is that the only way that you go on irrevocable waivers is if you are taken off the 40 man roster then you can be claimed. As long as you are on the 40 man no team will be able to claim you. That sucks about 2.5 years too. .5 more and you would be eligible for arbitration.

Oh and I finally got double digit strikeouts! Sat down 10 against the Braves in year 4.

Well, the thing is I went through arbitration at the end of the prior season. Got a 1 year deal worth $700k. Then after ST the next season is when I was sent down (actually the transaction date was 3/1, so I was a ST invitee).

So, sounds like even though I'm out of options I can still be sent down to the minors until I reach my 6 years or service?

Due to I wanted a bit more competition.

I started another RTTS, this time with Chris West (Random name to match the voice names), a LF who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. At first, I was no so happy about the Pirates drafting me, but we are 7-2 in spring training so far.

Here are my stats, so far in 9 games.

                            25 AB, .320 BA, 0 RBI, 0 HR, 8 Hits, 3K.

I've got in on All-Star difficulty after reading the posts in this thread. But I am doing decent so far, considering my attributes at the moment.

Looking foward to this RTTS and keep everyone posted in a better format.

SP is fun, i jumped to the majors by the end of my 2nd year.
Just signed a 49m 6yr contract with the royals at age 21

Shame though we cant use our contract money to buy things in game ( offseason training stuff )

I like how pitching works. One start I can through a 1 hit shut out and then the next start I get sodomized
