Took forever to find this thread..
Game 159 of my Atlanta Braves franchise and I see a replay I've never seen in 200+ games I've played. My September call-up Jason Hayward hits a long towering home run down the right field line (4th of the month) and they show an instant replay from his P.O.V. Very cool seeing the pitch come in and watch it leave from home plate down the line and out.
I can't get enough of this game.Seattle Pilots GM (2011 - ) Record: 152 - 195

I saw my SS go to the mound and give some tips to my pitcher. Amazing.

See, I don't see why any player would ever do this. It's not like them hitting it foul changes the umpire's opinion on whether the ball was fair or foul, and in fact may sway their decision the other way if they think the player was trying to deceive them for whatever reason.
In situations like this, the player will always attempt to move themselves on the foul side of the ball (to open themselves up to the field and avoid touching it fair) and have their hand hover over it for the second that it kicks foul so they can touch it. Never before have I seen, or will I see someone glovekick the ball foul like that intentionally in real life.
I see what they were doing there, but this isn't an authentic baseball 'little thing'.
As for a little thing, in the first year of my franchise I really paid attention to and liked how SCEA accounts the time of year for the sun's position in the sky. Now if they can work a lot more on the time of day progression, it should be a true thing of beauty for next year. I have to disagree. If it's a slow roller that just rolls foul it's totally conceivable that a player would swat the ball away to make sure that it doesn't hit something and roll back in. If the player is there and has time to bend down and pick it up with their hand then they usually will. But if it appears to be rolling back in to fair territory as they're approaching it then they can knock it away with their glove or hand to make sure it stays foul.
The player isn't trying to fool or influence the umpire by doing so.

Re: ***Official "It's The Little Things..." Thread***
Just bought the game (and a PS3 Slim) today. In my first hour of play, I noticed something excellent:
I had the game paused while researching something on Google. Suddenly, the PA announcer says, "Join us at Rogers Centre this Saturday for Jr. Jays Saturday, where kids run the bases, announce the Blue Jays starting lineups and lead the seventh-inning stretch."
After I heard this, I took a break from my googling and decided to type "Jr. Jays Saturdays" into the search field. Lo and behold, it actually exists:
Awesome. Along with the other stuff in this thread, this makes me appreciate my recent purchase that much more.Owner of URWL CAW WRESTLING: http://www.rantboard.net/Comment

I hit a walkoff with Hafner.......he was shown at first being congratulated by the first base coach, who pointed to the bag as if to say "don't forget to touch the base!"

I hit a walkoff homerun with Nick Markakis against JP Howell of the Rays.
The very next night, Markakis again steps up to the plate (and down by one run) against Howell and Vasgersian says something like "The hero of last night's game...can he do it again?" Hudler then says "If you're this pitcher (Howell), you still gotta be thinking about last night. It'll be interesting to see if he gives this guy (Markakis) anything to hit."
I was like "holy crap...now THAT'S detail". I've only heard it once but then again the circumstances were very special to begin with.Last edited by Fetrey; 09-15-2009, 02:15 PM.Comment

It makes me wonder how many individual commentary clips/cool "little things" are in the game because I've played the game frequently ever since March and I still see new stuff. There are things I've seen or heard months ago that I haven't heard or seen since. It's brilliant video game programming.Last edited by Fetrey; 09-15-2009, 04:45 PM.Comment

Sorry about quoting the late, but they do it to make sure that the ball doesn't hit a rock or something and come back.See, I don't see why any player would ever do this. Incredible attention to detail, there.
My own little thing, Playing at the Angels. PA announcer after the game was left idle: "Angels fans! Come out next saturday for Rex Hudler Talking Bobble head night!"
Two things impressed me about this.
1. Rex Hudler is the Angels Color Guy.
2. The booed!

Bottom of the eleventh.....I hear this from Matt:
"I've just been handed a note that due to the length of tonite's game, 'Cooking with Erma' will not be seen so that we can show you the conclusion of this game.Ladies, don't get mad at me, I'm just the messenger!"

Again, never have seen it in real life, probably never would see it, never would do it myself as a player, and I would never ever teach that as a coach. There's no difference to kicking it foul and simply nicking it with your fingers. Once you touch it foul, it's foul. You want to do what you can to ensure that the umpire saw where the ball went foul, and doing something like that doesn't help.
Kind of like a football player that sticks the football in front of where he landed after being tackled. Not only does the referee know that you placed it forward, but they may incorrectly place it too far back because you were being dishonest about the ball placement or they can't correctly get the original spot.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
