Hitting in 09 is a tad too difficult

Anyone who has 09 agreeing on this? I used to play All Star then HOF in 08, but in 09 im stuck in veteran with sliders favouring me to get better hits and im getting shut out, I dont strike out just everything I hit is nothing, Ive played 6 Spring Training games and havent had one bomb yet not one....

Sure u can say I suck but really though this is kind of annoying,
anyone having similar experience?


EDIT*** I found if I turn the pitch count to "quick" it felt more like 08, just a suggestion for people having trouble.

It's definitely more difficult. But as someone who played HOF in the past, I am getting great results on default all-star with pitch speed turned down.

Have to see how it goes, but that's what I am seeing so far.

I'm glad it's hard..hate paying money for easy games..plus I plan on spending a ton of time "in the cage"
Hitting a baseball is probably the hardest thing to do in real life sports

The last baseball games I played were MVP 2005 (PC) and MVP NCAA 06 (PS2). Coming from those games with their slightly oversized ball and hitter's eye gimmick, I'm finding the demo pretty hard.

This is awesome. I play on Legend, and this looks like the difficulty I've been waiting for. I just got owned by Brandon Webb, but before that I scored seven runs against Brian Mohler. You've got to concentrate and wait for your pitch, and it's tough. But I love the fact that this year I might not be hitting .310-.330 as a team.

The hitting is a lot tighter this year. You can't be late on that inside pitch and hit it hard the other way any more. And you really have to wait and go the other way with those outside pitches. If you're early you'll hit it off the end of the bat and just roll it over. Seems like the timing window is much more accurate this year. I'm loving it.

It is tougher but the community as a whole asked for it and we got it!

I think the hitting is right where it should be as far as difficulty is concerned.

Yeah, it's more difficult. My player had a horrible spring training. Welcome to the AA bench.

This is my first year playing The Show, and so far I've been struggling to hit on Veteran level (pathetic, I know). I've experimented with different methods to see what works (guessing location, guessing pitches, using batter's eye, not using anything).

I read here that a lot of people don't use batter's eye and instead simply press the X button. But using this method seems to result in a lot of foul balls and weak infield hits (at least for me). I then started using the batter's eye, and now I'm getting much better quality of hits. Much more contact, and many of my hits are line drives.

The hard part is being quick enough to aim in the correct spot a millisecond before pressing the X button. I don't always get the timing right, but when I do the results are often good.

In the vein of this thread....I would love to see a user be able to pick a hitting difficulty and a pitching(maybe different!) difficulty separate.

i get like 9 hits a game just cant seem to get a damn HR or string them together then end up loosing 0-1

Sounds like a great thing to me. Being an ex-baseball player it takes alot of practice to become an effective hitter and it is about time a game has simulated this very well.

I only read the title of the thread... and that sounds awesome. I would say that the majority of complaints from last years game was that the hitting was too easy. Even on HOF with the sliders skewed completely in the cpu's favor.

I'm doing okay. Making contact, hitting atom (at 'em) balls, assortment of types of balls hit. Some drop, some don't. I'm playing on VET right now with pitch speed all the way down (that doesn't mean it's slow). I'm still relearning, but I'll get there. Don't plan on starting my season til some time next week. Having a lot of fun with the game. Still don't know what level I'll play on.
