I think I might just have to move down to veteren. I can't believe I'm even saying that after how easy last years game was. What a difference a year makes.
I have the same problem playing with the Rox. I played a 29 game season on All Star with Default sliders and couldn't hit and my pitchy was spotty. I had some good games and a lot of games I got rocked. The game is a lot harder this year and I LIKE IT! Even though I lost a lot I did start to hit better and it is a challenge. That's a lot better than playing on HOF and getting 20 hits a game.

Go down a level to Veteran and see how that plays out. You can also try lowering pitch speed before moving down a level or messing with sliders.

      Re: PSP Version Impressions

Ok, I started one game on veteran and couldn't get through 3 innings. I had like 10 hits in three innings, all singles except for one HR. The CPU actually hit me pretty good too.

Just too many hits for my taste on Veteran. I'm getting a feeling that All-Star may be where it's at. I'll just have to get used to hitting. Worse case scenario, I can always take the pitch speed down some to get used to it more.

All in all, I much prefer this years game. I'd rather a game be too hard than too easy. If it's too hard, I can always hope to get better. If it's too easy, then its not really playable because its not like you are going to get worse with time.

You know what's BS ? Home Run Derby mode in the PSP version. Why the hell can't you play against CPU players ? Don't go all crazy on me for mentioning the HR derby mode. It's my prerogative and this is the proper thread to mention this. I'd actually play it more if you could make some of the players CPU. Doesn't anyone else think that is BS ??

well, i think that we should of had the option to play against the CPU cuz... why not? we have to use every player we pick which for me is fun.. but playing against CPU is fun also & should of been added

Anyone else notice when SCEA updates the rosters for the PSP, the stats of the players get all messed up. With each roster update, Tim Lincecums record from last year falls to 10-11 with an ERA of almost 4.00. Almost all of the players have messed up stats, which leads to the team rankings all changing.

            Weird...

all you do as a catcher is field bunts and weak grounders as well as catch the occasional pop fly. You don't call pitches and all that stuff if that's what you mean.

Out of all the sliders i've adjusted the Pitch Speed slider is the one i've found has made the greatest impact.
Having struggled over 30 or so games with the Pitch Speed slider at default i lowered it by 3 (so that it was 2 clicks from the left) and noticed a huge difference.
Before the change i was getting about 6-8 hits a game on average with the CPU getting about the same.
I found that it was much easier to hit and i was smacking doubles to the gaps and actually pulling the ball past the 1st and 3rd basemen.
I scored 10 runs in the first 5 innings on around 15 hits.
The other thing it seemed to do that i found strange was lower the CPU's ability to hit.
While the slider was set there the CPU got only 2 hits, both singles, and never got a runner past 2nd.
For the last 4 innings of the game i moved the Pitch Speed slider up one so it was now at 3 clicks from the left and found that this evened out the hitting a bit.
I managed another couple of runs during that game whilst the CPU's hitting improved and they ended up with another 6 hits and 2 runs.

Since that game i've left the Pitch Speed slider at 3 clicks from the left and have found my hitting has improved to the point where i'm getting an average of 8-10 hits a game and the CPU is getting about the same.
I've also found that home runs have been a little more plentiful.
Before the change i was hitting approx. 1 every 2 games and after i'm hitting approx. 1 a game.

This change has worked well for me and is something to think about when tweaking the sliders to get the game feeling just right.

Would be interesting to see if anyone else has found this kind of difference by changing the Pitch Speed slider.

It was said that player options are in the game, but in RTTS and season mode, I don't see a way to view how many options a player has.

OK, I just started playing a season on the PSP, please tell me that there's a way that I can set the opposing team's line-up prior to each game. I was trying to replicate the line-ups from the Yankees (me) and Orioles opener from yesterday and no matter what I do, I can't set the Orioles lineup correctly. I even tried setting the Yankees line-ups at the roster control screen and then starting the game as me controlling the O's so I could set them the way I want. I figured this way I could just switch which team I'm controlling after the game starts, but when I do this it completely screws up the Yankees lineup, even though I already set it correctly. You mean to tell me that no-one at SCEA thought that it might be a big deal if people can't set the lineups the way they want them, for each game?!? You have to be kidding me. Unless I'm missing something...if so, PLEASE school me on this.
