Re: Confess, Who's Dropped Down a Level?

Yeah.. I've gone from HOF in 08, with sliders that heavily favored the cpu, to default All Star here in 09. It's probably just a tad to easy, but I'm definitely not ready for HOF yet. I think I'll probably take a few more days with AS and give HOF another try.

My biggest problem is the hitting. I didn't move the left stick at all last year, but with a little help from the BP mode I think I'm really starting to get the hang of it. Hopefully by the time some decent rosters come out I'll be fairing pretty well on HOF or Legend. I'd like to find a nice balance of a winning percentage of 500 or a tad higher. I figure that's probably pretty realistic for the Bravos this year.

My biggest gripe with the game last year ws that it became too easy after just a couple months. I don't think too many people will be having that problem this year.. which is great.

David, I played on AllStar, or HOF last year. I'm playing on Veteran this year with a couple little tweaks so far, but I really haven't played many full games yet. Still working on some roster stuff, updating, etc., but this game plays completely different from last year, it seems there are BIG differences in individual players, pitchers and the game is generally much more of a challenge this year on all levels.

I don't care what level I'm on as long as it's working for me.

But, I love the fact that it's a challenge, and there's 2 more levels above me (hof/legend) to challenge me and grow with me as I get better.

          This is a GOOD THING.

I never played 08 so I am new to the The Show and my plan is to work up. i am on Veteran mode for now and once I get alittle used to it I will work my way up.

I've come to the conclusion that I am just not All Star material. I have only won 1 game in about 15. My BA is about .160 Veteran here I come. Peace!!!!

              Yep, no shame.

A comfortable HOF'er i was last year....All-Star so far for me this year, couldnt get anything going on HOF at all.

              Great challenge though

Re: Confess, Who's Dropped Down a Level?

I played on All Star last year but I'm going strong on HOF with 'AI solid hits' being dropped one notch in '09. It is way too easy to pitch on All-Star using Classic pitching IMO and a little too easy to hit, I don't feel scared facing the aces of the league on All-Star and if I'm patient I can beat just about anyone. I scored 10 runs off Johan and beat up Lincecum for six runs in five innings on a few days ago.

On HOF it does get a little frustrating because pitchers will really paint the black and you have to fight off a ton of pitches but it's a nice challenge. In my game against the O's last night Cano had an 11-pitch at bat and there wasn't one pitch that was remotely close to being over the plate. I'll see how things go from here, maybe I'll drop the AI pitcher control a notch if the 4th and 5th starters for the CPU are acting like Greg Maddux as well.

One thing I do on HOF is preload my cursor down in the zone to the very bottom since the AI is so accurate with it's pitches and a ton are low in the zone. I can still get plenty of hits as long as I'm patient and can read the pitch, which I'm able to do on HOF.

Hahahaha..same here. Last year I was a Hall of Famer but this year im on All Star and am having a hard time hitting HR's. In 8 games of my Yankees franchise, I have hit a grand total of 3 HRs. 2 with Cano and 1 with Damon. Jskywalker, see you at the veteran level.

Re: Confess, Who's Dropped Down a Level?

Great to see this thread, very good to see.

HOF last year, but this year I am 0-6 on HOF. Mostly due to lack of offense.

I am moving down to All-Star today.

Nervous about pitching being too easy, as I was holding the CPU in check pretty well on HOF.

I went from HoF to All Star. I quit on HoF last Friday when Santana struck me out 15 times! Once I get the timing down I'll move back up.

Re: Confess, Who's Dropped Down a Level?

When I first got this game I played alot of my games on All-Star and won most of them. So i started a franchise with the Red Sox on Hall of Fame and lost my first two games to the Rays (not by much though). If I keep losing then I might have to consider moving back down to All Star with the pitch speed slider turned up a little.

I'm going to stick with Legend because, to me, it's the most realistic baseball.

I have no idea what's going to happen game to game. Unless I face the Yankees, then I know I'm going to get destroyed...

I've been playing on legend (no adjustment for sliders - only taking the fielder speed/reaction down to 0) and been having some great games...The timing window for hitting is really off - like I've got perfect timing on a pitch and have the PI perfect as well but it's fouled off and says "just missed". Not sure if this only happens in this level but quite aggravating. For a full franchise I'll probably play on HOF.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

No slider tweaks yet, I tried the using the PCI and it actually hurt more than it helped. I am using guess pitch, I think you can get by with out moving the left stick to hit.

All I care about is that the games are competitive and fun as hell.
I'm with you there. I played on HOF last year and went 112-60 in my franchise. This year I'm playing on Veteran (just couldn't hit on all-star) and I'm 4-6 so far in Spring Training.

I'm actually loving all of the losing!
