Re: All you young guys should consider yourselves very, very lucky
Hell yea Dr. I loved that game. Can you remember some of the teams that were on that game???? I remember the 78 yanks, 84 Tigers, 81 Dodgers. Then of course I made my own team. I even remember one of my favorite lineups
1. Kal Daniels-lf
2. Mariano Duncan-ss
3. Eric Davis-cf
4. Andre Dawson-rf
5. Harold Baines-dh
6. Tim Wallach-3b
7. UL Washington 2b
8. Franklin Stubbs-1b
9. Rich Gedman- c
Haha..... Those were the days.
Needless to say, I played with the 84 Cubs, and I also played a lot with the 86 Red Sox, 27 Yankees (Ruth and Gehrig), and 61 Yankees (Maris and Mantle). Whitey Ford was a God in that game! So was Mantle and Ruth of course.Comment

I played that game alot with the 79' Pirates "We Are Family" team with Stargell, Dave Parker, Omar Moreno, Phil Garner, Bill Madlock, John Candeleria, Mike Bibby, Bert Blyleven and Kent Tekeluve. That was an awesome team. I also enjoyed playing with the '84 Tigers, they were special, too. That was the 1st video BB game that focused on stats.Comment

I'm right behind you...I'll be 52 in October...
totally young at heart, spirit and in presence...other than family and close friends, no one believes me when I tell em I'm 51...LOL
My son...21 years old, ain't into baseball AT ALL. Real or in video form...He thinks I'm crazy because as he says, "Dad, you're always O.D.'ing with The Show! Can't you play something else on your PS3?" To which I tell him..."No way!!!"
LOLOL

I am so old, I remember when we actually created our lineups in our notebooks from the boxscores in the newpaper, and then go out and play them out playing whiffleball or ragball. Or when there wasn't anyone to play with, I had this old table set up with a strike zone on it and I would play a game using a rubberball. Any indoor baseball was playing Statomatic, creating some goofy game with baseball cards, or watching the Cubs play on WGN.Comment

Man...we are old
I've said it before...but I love how the passage of time is marked by baseball...either real or even now with games....in the U.S.
It's like that with most sports...but not as prevalent as with baseball IMO.

I also have memories of a similar dice game I THINK put out by Sports Illustrated....don't know why S.I. comes to mind, but it had the sheets for each team, the socre sheet pad and the dice also....
I used to keep stats with that like crazy...

Re: @ coachpars
I believe that game was called APBA baseball...I was so loyal to strat that I never even thought about trying it. Knight made a great point. i use baseball to remember great times from my past. Example; first time I remember sleeping over my aunts house when I was five. I dont recall what we did,but I do remember that picture of Rusty Staub in his home whites and flaming red hair sitting on her kitchen table.( i believe it was a photo book from the department store Grants...lol) I became a Mets fan right there. 1973...yikes!Comment

I wish Sony would release some DLC that would let you play ball from about that time...Lots of cool teams in the early 80's(Pirates, Dodgers, Phillies, Red Sox, cardinals, A's, Orioles)Comment

Re: All you young guys should consider yourselves very, very lucky
Oh man, could you imagine if there was DLC for a particular year? Like if you could play the 1986 season if you were a Red Sox or Mets fan, the 1984 season if you are a Cubs fan (or San Diego or Detroit fan), or any of the Big Red machine or Yankees Dynasty years. Even better would be if the ballparks and uniforms were correct. That would be baseball bliss. Imagine playing at the Polo grounds or Crosley field for example.Comment

Playing at the Polo Grounds is a kick. I sure wish this stadium and all the old ones could have been implemented into the Show.Comment
