Apparently I use it much more than others. I use it when I guess location/pitch correctly, or when I have a good count. If I'm winning by more than one, I use it freely with my power hitters.

I don't ever use it because in the PS2 version (not sure if it's the same for PS3) you can't check swing with the power swing.

its the same. No check swing for power swing in PS3 either.

Yup no check swinging is why I don't use it much.. But I did a fun season with the Twins and used it with Morneau and Crede.. Basically just with guys with high power. Although even when someone doesn't have high power, if you have solid contact and use power swing it hits the ball even more sharply.. It's big risk/reward.

No, I'm not much of a hockey fan so I haven't seen the Bears play. However, I have gone to a ton of HV Renegades games though (as per my avatar). I love the laid back baseball atmosphere of those minor league games. It's a nice contrast to the grandeur of Yankee Stadium to which of course nothing compares (just ask my wallet, lol. Can't wait to check out the new "Cathedral in the Bronx" this year though).

Edit - oops...sorry to veer off topic, probably should've responded via PM.

Don't use it anymore. Getting great games without it.

i only use power swings when the person throws high in the zone, ive gotten great results HR wise just pushing right stick up and hitting the X button with great timing

                i average 3 HRs a game online

Don't use it, never will. I don't need it, I hit enough homers, doubles, triples without it.

Re: At what point do u use "power swing"?

Hitter's count only - actually got a nice game-tying double with 2 outs in the 9th with my RttS player on a power swing. It's more than possible to hit HR's in this game on a normal swing.

One thing I did find interesting - in RttS BP, the stat increases change slightly when you power swing as opposed to normal (less contact increase, more power), so it does have its uses, certainly.

I never use it. It seems like if it isn't a HR ball, then the game will punish you and make you hit pop ups and weak flies.

In 08 I consistently hit 50 HRs with the contact swing.

I use it when I want to hit an ugly grounder to short on a ball I would otherwise crush. =(

Oh lord...if I ever took power swings on 0-2 I'd K 20 times per game.

I guess it works if you're sure you can lay off the bad stuff (I'm sure you can russell ), but I have to rely on my ability to foul pitches off to keep from K'ing all the time.

yeah, that's the only time I use the power swing. You can get a +6 on power for a deep fly with the power mode swing in BP. I've not hit a homerun in BP with the power swing, but I wonder how much power you get added since you get +10 power when you hit one with a normal swing.
