You cannot cut the ball once its been released. That was confirmed early on.

I know because I was bummed to learn that.

I hope they change this for next year because in real baseball, its the middle infielder who decides if the throw should go all the way through to the base or get cut.

i know its l1 but for some reason when i hit it. it never goes to the cut off man. i dont know if i am doing it too late or too soon

You don't push any other button once your fielder gets the ball. Just press L1 to throw to the cutoff man.
