That's what I did (deleted Game Save Utility MLB file, and all of my Save files for MLB 09 and started over from scratch.) It then loaded the patch first, and then installed the game to the HDD all over again. I just decided I didn't want any old "corrupt" files to cause me problems. I will just wait to download Knights career stat glitch free roster and start a new franchise. In the meantime, I have edited a SCEA 4/27 roster mostly for the Chicago Cubs (MLB and all AAA done, see my thread in the roster section if you want it or want more details about it Cubs fans

I don't know if that (the reinstallation of patch and game) is the reason why or if I'm just lucky this time, but my replays work fine, and my franchises (new ones of course, using the SCEA 4/27 roster) have not crashed or anything. I have even simmed some through just to test, and no crashes. The games I have played have not crashed either. This is all with the Chicago Cubs so far.
The only crash I have had is twice when editing rosters. After I rebooted the PS3 completely, I have never had a problem again (knock on simulated computer wood).
I have been using my lineup fix workaround I posted with CPU roster control on, and the sim games are working out with the lineups staying correct. Unfortunately you have to set all the lineups AFTER spring training for this to work properly (simmed games that is), because the CPU jumbles the lineups after spring training again, so every new team I want to use as franchise, I will have to do this after spring training

I have been "babysitting" all the lineups and rotations of every CPU team though to see if any of the lineups move (sim games by looking at the box scores) due to fatigue and the CPU then using its own logic to rearrange them (it hasn't so far, but it theoretically could and some people have claimed it has happened to them). Then I use the second controller to set the lineups for the teams I actually play against and move it back to CPU once the game starts. The CPU then plays as they normally do.
One guy is using the sportscast function and a second controller to set the lineups for ALL games and then simming. That is too much time and work for me, lol.
All of this is not ideal, but I can play now career stat glitch free, and lineups "correct" using stock SCEA pitchers and players by putting in this extra effort.
If anyone wants correct lineups with CPU roster control off, Knights lineup fix rosters are the only way to go right now that I know of, other wise you have to just live with what the CPU does. You will then have to live with the career stat glitch until he releases his new roster without it.
The other thing CPU roster controll off guys could do if they don't want the career stat glitch is use the SCEA 4/27 roster and edit the big players that are extremely out of order like Todd Helton, Grady Sizemore, A. Soriano, etc. using Knights attributes for reference. Then at least those guys won't be so glaringly out of lineup order. It's really the big ones like these that may matter a lot to the CPU roster control off guys because MLB managers change things around all the time anyway. Look at LaRussa. Good God! His lineups are different everyday. Funny thing is Tejada has batted second lately, and Jeter and Damon have switched, lol. Some of SCEAs logic seems fine, maybe its the attributes that are really off, I don't know. But, to each their own. That's why I use CPU roster control ON because I am a control freak, lol .
With the DL problem people have posted about, I suppose if you get too many injured players it will be a big problem. That is why I am not even contemplating using CPU roster control off this year for any of my Franchises/Seasons.
Keep your chins up and try to move forward in a mature constructive fashion everyone. Let's use this thread to try to help them find solutions to the problems and report on them for a possible fix or at least so that there will not be these problems again in next years game.
There is nothing wrong with opinions and constructive criticism either way, but bickering here just clutters the thread (this is not aimed at you Countryboy at all even those I quoted your post).
Glad you're doing well if you read this Russell.
