IMO it is much better if you call your own game. After all its not the catcher who gets the "L" in his stats.

I did at first and then kept wondering why, at key times, I would get shelled....aka comeback ai. Seems that once I started calling my own games, no more comeback ai. It also seems that my catcher is a traitor.

They nailed Ryan Howard perfectly. If you can get him in a matchup vs. a lefty and throw him sliders that break away from him down and away out of the zone, he will eventually either ground out weakly or strike out. However, if you miss your spot...

Yeah, in 2008 My RTTS pitcher played for the mets so i saw f***ing howard a lot and about halfway into the season i just started intentionally walking him, any pitch i through except for a slider breaking down and away like you say, he hit out of the park every damn time. I couldve swore he was one the one on the cover lol

I ignore him completely now. I was following him previously and he was just terrible, 85% fastballs and if I was ever behind in the count he would always want me to groove one instead of pitching to the corners. In the end it became obvious that the catcher was hell bent on not walking anyone and that doesnt work when I dont mind walking someone, walks are a hell of a lot better then homeruns and grooving pitches like my catcher always wanted seemed to end in homeruns more then anything else.

Re: Pitching, Do you let the catcher select the pitch?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I let the pitcher call the games the first year of my RTTS. But when I bumped it to All-Star my second year the catcher stopped calling the games. To be honest it took me two more full seasons to get the hang of when and where I should throw my pitches. But I seem to do really well calling my own games now.
