Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
I am 1-5 so far with my Indians franchise. Kerry Wood blew the season opener in Texas or I would be 2-4. My bullpen has been falling apart just like in real life. I have also lost one game because I had 2 errors in the 8th inning, giving Rafael Perez the loss, that resulted in 4 runs and I lost 5-4.Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
Are you using the SCEA update for your franchise? If you are, you should think about using Knight's roster set.Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
I should get some time here soon to finally start mine. I've been playing RTTS any chance I get to play of late and just need to decide which version of Knight's OS Rosters I want to use.Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
I'm currently using ridi's roster and playing ever game. I'm somewhere around 39-33 so far and about 1 gm up on the Sox in the division. Victor Martinez, Sizemore, Carmona and Sipp have been money for me, whereas DeRosa, Asdrubal Cabrera, Betancourt, and Raffy Perez have been terrible.Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
I just clinched the Central in my last game. My record is currently 93-52. I actually was just hovering around .500 until the All-Star break (went into the AS game just 4 games above .500), but the team has been REALLY hot in the second half. Pitching has been just dominant. In the second half of the season, I've had one span where I won 20 of 24 games, and I just lost a 13-game winning streak a few games ago.
I'm in September now, and it's kind of cool to have the September call-ups this year. Akron is in their championship series, but Columbus finished last in their division. So, LaPorta, Barfield, etc., are on the ML roster right now.
Anyway, I'm in the home stretch now. Hope we stay this hot throughout the playoffs!Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
I am using Knights Rosters(v2). I don't play every game - I usually play at least 1 game per series. The tribe is currently 36-28 and in first place by 1 game over the White Sox. I had a SLOW start to the season and only in the last 25 games or so did they pick it up after lingering below .500
Transactions
- I really didn't like pitching with Carmona. No reason in particular and he is an A potential - it just wasn't fun so I traded him to the Brewers for Gallardo.
- Shin Soo Choo to the A's for Jack Cust. Really didn't want to do this trade...but I had to. Cust has saved my season.
Studs & Duds
Studs
- Mark Derosa. An absolute rock all season. Hitting at a .330 clip and just solid in the 2 hole.
- Johnny Peralta. My most CLUTCH hitter...moved him up to the 3 hole.
- Jack Cust. GREAT trade for me....the only real consistent power threat I have.
- Kelly Shoppach. Solid production and calls a great game.
- Middle Relief. These guys have held me in games. Rafael Perez has won 6 games in relief!
Duds
- Travis Haffner. He sucks plain and simple. Barely hitting above the Mendoza line and Peralta has more HR's . It was his lack of production that necessitated the trade for Cust. He's down to 7th in my batting order. I am 98% certain I am going to trade him before the deadline.
- Victor Martinez. He has become an average hitter who has not performed in the clutch. Disappointing.Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
A more detailed/accurate report of my season...
35-27 2 gms up on the White Sox
Lineup
Grady Sizemore - dude has been a stud and has 18 bombs so far, hitting around .290
Mark DeRosa- was terrible to begin the year hovering around .220 but has since raised it around .270
Victor Martinez- Absolute monster, 3rd in the league at .341
Travis Hafner - started out the year on a power surge but has since became a pathetic singles hitter, around .260
Peralta- consistent and clutch
Garko- suprise of the year and is hitting near .290
Cabrera = terrible
Choo - inconsistent but can stroke at times
Fausto has been great, Lee has been terrible, and Kerry Wood has 16/20 savesComment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
Does Pavano give up an insane amount of homers for you guys? I just started one and simmed ahead to today, they were 17-17 going into a game with the White Sox where Pavano struck out two in the first inning ... but then gave up four solo homers. The ball couldn't get out of the park fast enough. I put Tony Sipp in and he did a bit better but of course I still lost. It looks like I've got some roster moves to make.Comment

Re: *cleveland indians franchise thread*
Pavano did alright for me. My rotation started out with a created player (one of my friends), Lee, Carmona, Pavano, Reyes, and Laffey, with Pavano the long relief guy / starter in case of injury. Sure enough, Carmona got hurt for about 4 weeks, so Pavano stepped in then. Was a little up and down, but I think he went about 2-1 with an ERA of about 3.80. Not too bad, but not great.
However, one thing I did do, in trying to stay true to real life. Westbrook is expected back around the All-Star break (or shortly thereafter) in real life. So, as soon as the AS break was over, I called Westbrook up from AAA. I sent Pavano down, and then I had to decide between Reyes and Laffey for the 5th starter spot. They had pretty equal numbers, but I went with Laffey, and he's been great.Comment
