Wow thats nuts. I have yet to see anything like that, and I am pretty good at hitting singles back to the pitcher. I have hit a pitcher on a line drive, had it roll directly back to the catcher, and had him throw it to first for a very very easy out. I got so jacked when I saw it was getting a good bounce off the pitcher.....it was pretty sweet to see him get me out on that though.

Pujols - plain and simple. I can't get the guy out. And usually it is after Skip Schumaker has gotten on base before him. He kills me, too.
If anybody has any idea how to pitch to Pujols, I'm open to suggestions. I keep the ball in his blue (cold) zones, he crushes it. I try the red (hot) zones, he crushes it. The guy is a machine! Then again, he pretty much does that in real life, too.
I have also found that Ryan Garko from Cleveland is nearly impossible to get out (at least for me). He hits everything I throw HARD - nothing is ever soft or routine.Comment

Intentional walk. I do this alot with elite batters. Especially if its a close game in the late innings. It very rarely leads to runs for me. Obviously you wouldnt walk him with zero outs if Schumacker is already on. But I would if there were 2 outs with Schumacker on.Pujols - plain and simple. I can't get the guy out. The key though is to actually use the intentional walk button, because if you just throw 4 balls, you pitcher loses confidence and your pitches will be all over for the next at-bat.Comment

I've actually gotten to that point with him, especially late in games. I can't tell you how many times I've been down 2-0 in the first, though, after a Schumaker single and a Pujols homer (on a pitch that isn't even close to a strike). He just KILLS me!Intentional walk. Pretty realistic actually though. I wonder how old he really is or how many horse steroids he is on.Comment

On the other side of this arguement, a player that I absolutely kill with is Ryan Braun. I dont know what it is but he is a beast for me. I had 17 homers through 31 games will him. I am also a beast with A-Rod. I had a 53 Homerun season with him that I just finished up.Comment

Re: Ever Had a CPU Player Kill You Single-Handed?
Justin Morneau for me on this side of the argument. I have a "side" franchise as the Twins, and he is an absolute beast.
Also, Milton Bradley is fun to hit with.
I've never had too much trouble with pitching to Braun. Fielder on the other hand.......
Thanks for having an intelligent discussion and not bringing the whole "Brewers/Cubs" thing into this. I know we are "enemies" but it is nice to have an exchange without all the B.S.Last edited by rocket21; 05-14-2009, 04:42 PM.Comment

Re: Ever Had a CPU Player Kill You Single-Handed?
In year 2 as the Cubs, I have the best record in the MLB, and the #2 is the St. Louis Cardinals. Between the two of us, we have 10 of the top 15 batters in the NL, and for the first time we met in a series recently.
Surprisingly, Pujols was the coldest player on their team. In game 1, I K'd him 3 times and he GIDP the other AB. It was Rick Ankiel who hit 3 solo HR's in game one that beat me 3-2, off Carlos Zambrano.
It's a rare ocassion though, Pujols usually beats the snot out of me, but it really just depends on who's hot and who's not. The weirdest part was, in all 3 of Ankiel's ABs, I got him to 0-2 and was pitching around him, and after like 6 pitches I finally went to his [cold, blue zone] high heat and he knocked it out. I should have learned after the first or second time, but I trusted my scouting report...oops.Comment

Ryan Howard killed me last night, hitting 2 home runs, and driving in 5. I had him 1-2 on the second at bat, before a fastball low didn't stay low enough.Comment

Re: Ever Had a CPU Player Kill You Single-Handed?
Currently Matt Holliday.
Just played a 3 game set against the A's.
Game 1, 2 run bomb.
Game 2, solo bomb.
Game 3, 3 run bomb.
I did strike him out once though

Re: Ever Had a CPU Player Kill You Single-Handed?
Add Adrian Gonzalez to that list. Just like in the real-life series that just ended, he hit four homers in three games against me (as the Cubs).
I'm not sure I ever got him out in the three games. I intentionally walked him the last two times just to make sure I didn't give up any more homers.Comment
