Re: MLB 09: The Show Mini-Patch (1.07) Released 5/19/09 - Impressions and Discussion
I've read about a few people saying they're having problems in RTTS Mode since downloading the 1.07 patch. I have the patch downloaded, and I haven't ran into any problems as of yet in RTTS. I'm nearing the end of my 2010 season. To make sure, I made a second save file of my RTTS career, and then simmed the rest of the season, and simmed the offseason to see if the system restarts to my XMB after a certain date. It didn't happen. For the people that this is happening to, is it only occuring in certain years, or does it not matter? I'd hate to keep continuing my career years later and have it restart on me. I've put a lot of time into it. Thanks.Comment

Just make sure you are hooked up to the internet, and put your disc in. It will prompt you automatically to download and it covers all of them.Comment

I like the benefits of having the correct Cubs day/night schedule (since that is my main team), lineups can "stick" better with stock SCEA ratings if you reset them after Spring Training for sim games (then I use the 2nd controller for games I played and the lineups come up automatically now instead of me having to redo them each game I play).
The replays work fine now with the mini-patch as well. I have had absolutely no problems just playing my franchises. No freezes. I have auto save turned off which may or may not be a problem, I don't know.
(I don't play RTTS, so I can't comment on that).
I wish they would have fixed the roster control issues, but as Jim stated it was probably a more in depth issue due to the auto-fix feature, but I would take this game post-patches anyday over non-patched. Just my 2 cents. This is just my personal experience so far.
I totally understand the frustrations of those having problems however, and hope I do not run into any in the future.Last edited by DrUrsus; 05-23-2009, 02:00 AM.Comment

The replay fix was probably a quick tiny bit of code to update. Therefore, it was easy to take care of and didn't require a lot of man-hours (and hence money) to correct. Remember, SCEA is not going to allocate a great deal of funding to continue working on an already released game. It's just not financially feasible to do so.
Doing this will more than likely allow me to save money and buy the game used from Gamestop, which in turn would prevent Sony from making anything from the sale. I realize my "measely" $60 won't be noticed by such a large company, but none the less, it is a result of how things have transpired this year. It is what it is.Comment

Seems like the same problem as me. Had no issues at all until downloading 1.7 patch. I always thought of myself lucky after hearing of all the problems people had pre and post 1.6 patch. I played EVERY game in RTTS for five seasons aswell. What a waste of time and effort. Got UFC today to cheer myself up by knocking six blocks outta someone.
(Game companies do this so that people who buy the game months or even years after its release get the most up-to-date software without having to download multiple patches.)
Russell from SCEA said that any franchises or RTTS's started before patch 1.6 need to be restarted. Or you can delete the patch and play the game as it came out of the box, which will not cause your RTTS to crash. Lots of people are doing this and seem very happy.Comment

When you downloaded 1.7, also includes the fixes (and bugs) that 1.6 had. The crashing is a bug introduced by 1.6, so there's no way to download patch 1.7 without getting the crash bug.

Re: MLB 09: The Show Mini-Patch (1.07) Released 5/19/09 - Impressions and Discussion
Personally, I am more than happy having no patches at all.
The schedule thing isn't that big a deal to me. The CPU control lineup fix rosters of Knight and Co. V2/5 hold the lineups good enough for me. NO major issues just some minor ones lineup wise, no biggie.
I have all replays/highlights and I don't have to worry about a possible future freeze or any other issues.
Really, there isn't anything in the patch that I would risk my franchise for at this point.
I am happy as can be without it, and hope others with issues can get them figured out.Comment

Why arent more people angry about this? I have little desire to go back to the game after losing 4 months of virtual work.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Mini-Patch (1.07) Released 5/19/09 - Impressions and Discussion
While it sucks, it's easy to understand. Patch 1.06 changed the schedule around, so the new one goofed the older franchises as that change caused some irregularity.
The entire patch process this time around has been very unfortunate as, IMO, they should NEVER make a game less stable. Probably should have made it so older files weren't effected either way (losing out on some of the benefits, but avoiding the lost franchises).
Hopefully, future patches will be focused primarily on stability and functionality over trying to appease everyone's hopes and dreams.
