Speaking of Rookie of the Year, one thing that has bugged the snot out of me is that Rookie of the Year is a hitter's only award. Why aren't pitcher's considered?

Training. Give us a better understanding of how it works, and allow us to see how it helps the player improve, not just the progression numbers during the offseason.

I've already requested this one.
(actually, I've spoken to some of the devs about most if not all of these things on some level)
But yes....I leave training up to the CPU in '09 basically because I don't know what will benefit my guys the most.
I think they've worked on this for '10.

The manage roster screen has a column that states whether a player is on the 40-man roster or not.

On the topic of stats and roster management, I would like to see more stats and a better interface for stats. We are going into 2010 and HD displays, we can fit more data on the screen with smaller print. As someone mentioned an MLB.com like syle would be great. Let me set filters and things like that. Trying to sort out what I want from the one stats screen is annoying. I would also like to be able to get stats collected for a range of dates.

I dont want my players to retire at a young age!!

I agree this is a big concern. I understand the need for the extra players drafted needing to find a home but I just hate the randomness of players retiring.

My solution would be for the lower rated FA to retire first and then go to older players on teams. Also, they could add an inactive team to each organization.

Yeah...but you gotta have some randomness to the situation.
I don't want to know who is going to retire ahead of time.
I agree on most of these points with retiring....the "talking out of retirement"....even raising the age that guys start thinking of it and elevating the chance as they get past that age in increments ...

I've already suggested adding a 15 man inactive list to the devs....a "holding space" if you will....and I think Kolbe already had something similar in mind previously. Let's keep our fingers crossed as this will help with a couple of different problems with the franchise...namely for me the problem of not having enough guys at a certain position when injuries occur(for instance P....I carry 12 on each level....9 injuries and I will have invalid rosters(due to the fact at this point I couldn't sign another player...something else that they know of and hopefully are fixing)...or carrying 6 catchers and having one of them go down at any level...you are now basically shorthanded there.
The "inactive" list would basically fix this.

Good point. I didn't think about the "randomness" of retirements. I was just thinking of my franchise where Curt Shilling and Jim Edmunds were signing with teams but Pettite and Posada were retiring.

That will be awesome if the add an Inactive list and the talking out of retirement option.

I just read this whole thread. There are some great ideas in there. I know it's too late now but here are my thoughts (1 is 'new', 2 and 3 have already been mentioned):

1) I'd like to be able to view the "Player Card" at all times during a game...it frustrates me to not be able to view all of a players attributes during a game. When I play with my own team, I eventually get to know, but if I jump in and play another team's games, I need to know if that potential pinch hitter can fill in at 2B after his at bat....does that make sense? (Having said all that, I'm not sure if this is a 'fix' or a new addition...the information is there and is accessible at certain points during the franchise, just not 'in game'.)

2) I agree about the transportation issue...for a game that touts itself as the most realistic, this is silly.

Not a big thing, but I'd like to see LOB (left on base) as a stats trackable by team rank and individual players.
