Re: *DAY 2* MLB '10: The Show Hands-On Impressions @ CES w/ Russell_SCEA
Im glad the animations thing is cleared up...you guys beat me to it, a lot of the numbers arent even right in this build...this is basically to show stadium additions, RTP, and broadcast camera.
-as for the throwing meter, it looks different to me and there is one, thats what is underneath the fielders when a throw is engaged, I cant explain, it just looks different. I think the broadcast cam going to be great because the camera remained zoomed out on the fielders on that ball that was lined in the right center field gap on the first video. I cant waitComment

The daytime lighting looks really subtle, which is ok if it's summertime. It'll be interesting to see if the time of year has an effect on the day games, with longer shadows in september at 3-4pm than in june.
Also the jerseys look better (even on the small screen) against the backdrops. Hard to describe but last year the jerseys seemed kind of mushy looking.
Overall it's great to get the information and thanks for posting the vids!Pitchers and Catchers Report; Life Worth Living AgainComment

Well said. Yes, it is subtle but it's nice and adds to the overall look. And it just looks more real because the daytime games look brighter now. At least they do to me.PSN: ToxicitiComment

blzr is right, when the stadium is wide open above as these two have been, the only shadow movement you should see are the players' shadows themselves. The only time structural shadows should come into play is when its afternoon shifting to evening or in a staduim with a retractable roof...I also recal Russell saying something about cloud shadows moving across the field. I also noticed a different lighting on the clouds in the sky as the day progressed...awesome!Comment

There appears to be more depth and separation now with the new lighting. The ball hit over the LFers head I saw noticeable distance between the fielder and the wall. Loved the tag by the catcher at home and the foul ball off the foot.Comment

You know it will be close to perfect or esle they would not add it yet. That is what I love about this team. You can tell they have a plan and they are so good at sticking to that plan and making some amazing games. I am excited The Show11 too.Comment

Considering they took this into account for the night games (April and September) the games started more dusk, and got darker faster, than in the summer, I think the same attention to detail would be paid to day games as well.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

And you have to consider how they have to replicate it. Lots of guys hit the X button constantly, which moves the game forward, etc., so a lot of programming there.
Loved the moving puffs of white clouds. Nice touch.Comment
