My point is that a complete online experience is not free with the PS3. In order for someone to get that complete experience, they would need to shell out some extra cash. Whether or not it is through a deal or not, it is still extra cash to be spent.

Re: Should I relent and buy a PS3 for The Show?
After my 4th RROD, I traded in my replacement 360 toward a ps3. I was able to get a trade in credit on top of the original because I was trading in one console toward another. I did this last April, not because of 2k's offering, but because of the 360. I adjusted sliders and had fun with 2k9. I bought a ps3 for Blu-Ray and the Show. I love baseball and I had to try out MLB 09. Long story short, I traded in my games and accessories for my 360, bought, MLB 09, 2k9, tiger woods, and NCAA football and another controller and spent about 400 dollars. Most sports games are multi-platform so your not missing anything unless you have a 360! I couldn't be happier with my entire media setup. If you can spare the money, it's an absolute must and a treat for all baseball enthusiasts.Comment

Re: Should I relent and buy a PS3 for The Show?
I did the same a year ago. You will not regret a second of it. The Show is the GREASTEST game ever made. It got me back into baseball after loosing interest 10 years ago or so. Now I find it hard to get my fill of it. Just do it!Originally posted by JB0B0I bought my ps3 simply for the show. Do not feel bad about spending $300 on a console for one game.Comment

Re: Should I relent and buy a PS3 for The Show?
I'm going to go against the grain here(booo, hisss) and say no it wasn't worth it to me. It depends on how much you need I guess? Really up to you. I bought a ps3 around this time last year for the same reasons, went through the same questions. Everyone here said the same things they are now. I played the Show 09 for 90 days and returned it and got my money back. So it really depends on what you think.
I love sports games and that's mainly 80% of what I play. I bought an xbox when Inside Drive came out when I had a ps2 for the longest time. I didn't regret that. The xbox had some pretty hefty upgrades as far as graphics the harddrive, KOTOR etc... Is blu-ray really worth it? It isn't to me. So I can watch movies on blu-ray? ehhh..
The ps3 just didn't offer enough for me. Most multiplats run and look better on the 360. The ps2 and Xbox was different. The controller on the 360 is better imo. Yeah MS can suck as far as paying for Live etc, but Mass EFfect 2, Halo Reach etc, etc.. Most patches come out first. The 360 is more than enough for me vs spending another $400 to play basically one game and maybe a handful of others that may come along in its lifetime that look a little nicer.
MLB 2k10 looks improved this year. The Show has it in spades as far as presentation and looking like the real thing and polish, but I think MLB 2k10 will satisfy my baseball itch this year. Both games will have advantages ultimately vs spending $400 which is a clear disadvantage.Last edited by kgisbeast; 02-16-2010, 09:58 PM.Comment

I have some really sweet albums on cassette and 8-track and movies on VHS that I'll give you a deal on!

Joking, joking...
Seriously, though, if you love steak, you had $30 bucks to spend, and some one gave you a choice between a $30 prime and a $5 chicken sandwich, would you really say screw it...give me the chicken."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

Re: Should I relent and buy a PS3 for The Show?
Glad I found this thread! I have a 360 so I have not bought a baseball games since 2k8. I liked it but never went back to baseball. I had a ps2 before the 360 and just before my purchase I was playing the show on the ps2 non stop. Long story short I have not enjoyed a baseball game as much as the Show and have had the itch for the past 2 years to get a Ps3 just for this game. I only really play Madden and a couple other sports game but I am finding it hard to miss out on what people are calling the best sports game ever. I think I may be going down this route also.
The question for me is, is it worth it to trade in the 360 to get the trade in value or just keep my 360? I don't have a ton of time for playing games so having 2 systems doesn't make all that much sense to me at this point. I don't have a media device upstairs so the blue ray will be nice. I have been watching the Show for a couple years now and I would love to get back to a good baseball game and Madden comes out for the ps3 also. After reading this thread I am more convinced than before. People seem happy with this game.Comment

Re: Should I relent and buy a PS3 for The Show?
Are you saying the ps3 is a prime steak and the 360 is a chicken sandwich? Because that's not true. Of course people here who have a ps3 are going to try to justify their purchase because they are here because they are happy about it, but the 360 has a lot of advantages over the ps3. People who don't even have a ps3 aren't even here except me. My point is it's not like you are spending $400 and getting the clear winner. The 360 has sold more consoles for a reason. Sony is ****ting their pants on the ps3 for another. Sony is losing money. It's not that great to a lot of people including me. Sry Sony Reps who are here, but it's kind of true. I don't even really like MS either. They have their own issues, but it's not like you get a ps3 and the world is suddenly great like some people here will have you believe. 90% of multiplats run better on the 360. Patches, DLC etc. MS has a lot more support as far as that stuff. To the "gamer" who doesn't care about blu-ray that stuff adds up.I have some really sweet albums on cassette and 8-track and movies on VHS that I'll give you a deal on!

Not meant to be a console debate...although I would check your facts on a few of your statements (BTW, I own and enjoy both consoles)Last edited by Woodweaver; 02-16-2010, 10:20 PM."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

Re: Should I relent and buy a PS3 for The Show?
Anyways i don't want to turn into a system wars thread. Just my two cents and just wanted to give a different perspective regarding making a decision. The ps3 is a nice console. Just don't expect it to replace your 360. For some people it might. For me it didn't. Why I said it comes down to how much do you really need? If you have the cash to throw around and having 2 consoles is fine with you then by all means. If you are planning for it to replace your 360 and don't care about losing out on some multiplats and DLC then by all means. You can't really lose that way.
As far as baseball games, the Show is great. Nothing bad to say about it. He was asking if he should buy a console though for it.
Yes 80% of what i play is sports. I had a ps3 last year like i said for 90 days. I had the show. I had Madden and NBA 2k9. I was waiting for hte patch on the ps3. I couldn't download certain rosters. NBA 2k9 had jaggies and framerate problems on the ps3 version. GTAIV was lower res. A lot of multiplats had framerate issues. It wasn't as good to me. There was too much give and take. If you have the money for both consoles then you can't really lose but that wasn't worth it to me just to play the show.Last edited by kgisbeast; 02-16-2010, 10:41 PM.Comment
