I am very motivated by the Gold trophy in MLB 10 that asks you to win the world series after having played at least 81 games of the regular season (can't sim more than half).

I'd like to start a franchise, play a season following the real one (that'd mean playing around 90-100 games between April and Octobre), then start my second season in the real life offseason (so that I'd have to make trades, get free agents, and see how my team performs in year 2... in anticipation of the next baseball season).

I'll play with the Cardinals, play all games against the Cubs, all the Interleague games, then 1 game of every serie depending on the pitching matchup. That should allow me to reach over 81 played games. Hopefully I'll qualify for the post season, win my division, and win the world series.

Now this will be my first year with The Show, so I was thinking about upgrading the difficulty level progresively. What do you think about that ?

Couldn't you up the difficulty level during your season ? Since 10 will be my first baseball game, I was thinking about starting a franchise at a dmedium difficulty level, then make it harder while I was progressing. Is that possible ?

Yes, you can change the difficulty mid-season. I played on veteran in my first season and all-star on my second. The only reason I didn't change it to HoF mid-season is because I already had played 130+ games on all-star, so I didn't want a completely new type of game after I had done all that work and established all those stats.

Has anyone here ever played a full 162 game season and your team finished dead last?

If so how in the would were you able to play out the full season without wanting to throw your contriller into the TV ?

Yep...I did in MVP 2004 with the Cleveland Indians. I finished 64-98, and yes, I threw my controller into the cushions many, many times. Ah, those were the days.

WEren't you frustrated not to see the playoffs or the world series after such a big commitment to the game ? Wouldn't you have prefered an easier difficulty level ?

When you're doing bad in a season...just look forward to September and being able to use all your call-ups and prospects. It makes it fresh.

I've done I think 2 on my own, and 2 with my roommate.

I will not be attempting a third. I saw that season length is an option, and I think 40games should be good.

Last year I was so frustrated in april i threw my chair across the room, ended up break the back and making a hole in the wall.
My girl thinks i over reacted! come on!

2010 looks promising and now i have a bean bag.

I've played all 162 games the last two years, it seems like a lot but if you just play a game or two a day then you can finish by July if you start right away. I've been able to win my division both times with 95 wins and 93 this past year.

I usually do 1 of 2 things as playing all 162 games is crazy and I want to play multiple seasons.....1) I select 3 pitchers out of my rotation that I like to use and play the games they pitch 2) or I play games until I lose a game, then sim until I lose and resume playing game.

Also, if I am out of the race at the All-Star break, I usually sim ahead to get season over with unless I have players in the running for awards of some kind.

I couldn't play every game of a 162 game season whether winning or losing. I just enjoy the offseason stuff too much I think. That is why I play one game a series and sim the rest. For me this works great because I am not very good at hitting, probably play on the lowest settings with slider aid still added compared to anyone else here. Simming all but one game a series gets me through the season faster and keeps the stats in line as well. Not to mention playing this way I never get bored in my season no matter how bad or well I am playing.

But all that really matters is that I have fun I think, same with anyone. But playing this way with my first year having a PS3 and a console version of The Show, I got into my third season. But then I also have much more time than most here I imagine...I am disabled so home almost all the time and now my marriage is ending as well, so that adds even more time. Hoping to get even further with this years version, although I will have to wait for Knights roster for sure before starting my franchise.

I've also never played this game online, but have been considering it. I just never think anyone would care to play against me since I suck so bad, LOL.
