Re: Optimized for 720p???
I think a lot of you guys are confused a bit.
Your HDTV has a specific native resolution. It's either 1280x720 or 1920x1080. Think of the TV resolution as that of your PC monitor, though you can't adjust it.
With that said, the sources (whether it be a movie on cable, a ps3 game, or a blu ray movie) have their own output resolution. No matter what the source resolution is, your TV will automatically scale it to it's native resolution because you're displaying it through it and it's a fixed resolution (as long as you have your screen set to aspect ratio a.k.a. 1:1 or native, whatever the term is for your TV). Otherwise you would be seeing a shrunk picture with black bars around it.
The idea is you want to usually match the source with the TV's native resolution. If your TV is a 720 and you're displaying a 1080 source, it will downscale it and you will lose some lines of resolution and detail. If your TV is a 1080 native and you are watching a 720 source, it will upscale it to 1080. Either way, your TV is doing processing and can or will contribute to game lag (cured by using game mode).
The "optimized for 720p" is misleading. It's making you guys think that playing it on 1080 is bad, lol. It simply means the game was designed in 720. Now, some of you guys might get stuttering or sever input lag in 1080 mode, but that's an issue with your TV, not the game. Using game mode solves the lag problems, and the game looks and runs much better for me in 1080p mode
