So bascially dont press select when playin at the Trop.
The quick up menu can be omitted by pressing start as well as pressing start instead of the select button.
you can still view pitcher progress and pitch count in the pause menu.

This is good to know, I've only played once at Tropicana once and I didnt experience any freezing. I was really curious to see what the deal was playing at Tropicana and this is really good info.

Thanks for the heads up tip:
So after reading I'll take this system lockup can occur while in Exhibition, Season or Franchise mode. (Or am I wrong) Also has this oddity spread onto other Major League Stadiums or is it soley on Tropicana Field?

On a Side Note:
Anytime any one company provides a bug that totally stops my console from working is a major cause for concern. As I've witnessed many to label bugs/glitches as gamekillers, but to have them announced as SystemKillers is taking it too far. As Freezes or Console lockup are not good for any investing consumer.

As I understand it, the glitch is caused by other things than just the bullpen, though I have no clue what the other triggers are. If you're still having lock-ups despite not accessing the bullpen through the Quick Menu, you might want to try pausing the game before every single time you press the select button. That might cause the game not to freeze. Of course, this is pretty tedious, so you might just want to avoid playing there until SCEA can hopefully patch it.

BTW, since RTTS is the only mode where you can't avoid playing at the Trop (unless you play as an NL team that happens to not draw Tampa Bay in Interleague play) , does anyone know if RTTS at the Trop is free from the freezing?

it just froze on me when the cpu (Rays) went to the bullpen in the 7th. Joe Madden came to the mound and I put down the controller to put a late inning dip in (getting the full effect of baseball) and when the screen switched, the game froze. Never touched the controller. Had a very good game playing as yanks and go ahead run on 3rd and jeter coming to plate. Oh, i'm playing franchise. I hate replaying a game that i've already pretty much played. I know i'm only 4 games in, but it takes the fun out of it. I've never quit a game because I was losing to replay and win. It's not ground hog day. I'll probably quit playing for awhile then start a another franchise at a later date when knights rosters are complete and the game has been patched. It is now out of my system and in the case.

I would honestly consider replaying just this one game at a different, neutral stadium and then do the same for all of your future road games against the Rays. That way you could continue on with your franchise as normal.

unluckily for me I got traded to the Rays in my 3rd RTTS year and got called up

I can't even get past BP in Tropicana because it locks up

Does not seem to matter if I skip/take batting practice, as soon as I try and escape and get to the game, it freezes

Took batting practice...let my guy walk away from the cage and talk to the hitting coach play out without touching anything and it froze

Tried again and quit batting practice pressing select before a pitch was thrown and it freezes trying to exit to the game

Can an online league be played with the Rays' home games in a different stadium? I'm going to be playing in a league soon with the Rays as my team.

What happens if you turn Batting Practice off in the settings? Are there any lock-ups at the Trop otherwise?

How is it possible that they release a patch and this doesn't get fixed? Seems like a very very basic thing to me.

This is crazy! I shouldn't have to have a workaround for hitting the SELECT button during a game.

What is the bug was "you can't pitch a curve ball in Yankee Stadium or the game will freeze" Would the workaround be just don't pitch curveballs? No it would get FIXED.

I played a game today to see if the patch fixed this and low and behold, bottom of the 6th I hit SELECT and my PS3 turns into a brick. I have to power it off by walking up to it because I can't do a single thing.

I won't play this game until that is fixed.

you can get the trophy as long as you play a complete game without hitting select
