Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

i'm not sure how or why this is...

Nick Johnson is hurt (surprise!). he's been placed on the DL. i have 24 men on my roster.

and i have 39 active men on my 40 man.

the system is not letting me sign a FA, saying my roster is full.

it's not full. what's the magic work-around to this one?

Your roster is full...not in the way you're thinking.
You have 90 of 90 in your system(DL'ing Johnson doesn't take him out of the system..it just doesn't count him towards the 40 man while on the DL). If you want to sign someone...you must have a roster spot open somewhere in your system(Single A)(not a 40 man spot...it will allow you to place anyone on the 40 man(giving you "41")...and put them in the MLB...when he DL'ed player is back...you then have to decide who stays on the 40 man.

      Hope this helps.

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

I'm hoping this is the right place, this is more of a guidance/tip question than a work around:

How do franchise user's utilize team training? Do you just leave your options set all season? Do you change them from time-to-time? When do the impacts of training hit your players' attributes? Is there a guides as to what training methods impact what attributes?

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

I'm having problems with 30 team control...

I've followed the directions exactly but no teams are putting anyone on the trading block nor are anyone offering any trades. This used to work, i think, before the new patch but now I'm not getting anything. I have 30 teams selected (franchise) with 29 teams having "no profile" and the team I want having my profile. Global settings are "auto" for all (including waivers) and "manual" for trades. Any thoughts?

Ok so i snuck home at lunch to try this, and then simulated the 1st season, figuring that whenever any two CPU teams tried to trade with each other, I would get a dialogue pop up (the same as when a trade is proposed to my team). No dice. Simmed 162 games and there were ZERO trades made...

I had my profile (Shea) assigned to the Mets & my trades set on MANUAL.

I had the other 30 teams set to NO PROFILE & Their trades set to MANUAL. (As well as their contracts, my 1st sim experience tossed Joe Mauer, Albert Pujols, and Jimmy Rollins into the FA pool in the offseason, there's no way THAT happens).

So I guess my 2 questions are

1: Did I do something wrong? I checked the league roundup and there were ZERO trades executed all season long

2: If I get this to work, will I get a pop in whenever two CPU teams attempt to make a trade?

You DON'T need forced trades on.....you DON'T need different profiles for each team. Just one profile for your team, and the rest set to the GLOBAL options.

You must check the trade offers for each team under the Pending Transactions.....if you see one that you don't like, or isn't realistic, simply do this.....

Next, go back into pending transactions, and to Trade offers. Find the pending trade you do not like, click on it, and click reject.

Boom, the trade is off the books now.

I just tested this, and it works

So if I started up a franchise w/ 30 teams, and set the other teams profile to an alternate one (profile 2) can I just change the other teams trade settings in the front end to auto? or are the settings locked into the franchise once you start?

and I'm guessing because I assigned alternate profiles to all other teams that global has no effect.

This work around was for pre-patch.
Before the patch....with trades set to Manual...you would get the notifications of each team still trying trades.
Post patch...it works correctly now(manual...actually means manual )...and there will be no CPU offers.
What you can do now is...set trades to AUTO...check the PENDING TRANSACTIONS page.....cycle through the teams.....and reject any offer you don't like going through. Anything you wouldn't mind...let the CPU make it's choice.

is there a workaround for the trade proposals disappearing when exiting franchise mode, quitting the game, then going back in?

Every time I do this, all the proposed trades are gone. This is a huge issue for those of us who play one game a day, then save, and quit.

Hmmm...this would definitely need to go into the bug/glitch thread.
Did anyone put it in there yet?

The only thing I can think of is if you are using 30 team control...and have trades to auto..go into PENDING TRANSACTIONS and make sure that all the trades are accepted/rejected(if you want to oversee them)
Otherwise(no 30 team control or you don't want to oversee trades) you'll have to use INSTANT TRADES....until it's possibly resolved.(instant trades doesn't involve you doing anything with trades...like FORCED trades does)

yes, I posted it in the bugs/glitches thread.

And, those are good ideas....as this bug basically makes turning instant trades off pointless, because the offer disappears before the CPU has a chance to accept or deny it.

So what you're saying is that there are now no pop-up notifications for CPU trades when playing with 30-team control and the only way to oversee CPU trades is to watch the Pending Transactions screen?

The way I play franchise is to simulate 1-2 weeks at a time and then play a game. I guess I won't be able to keep tabs on the CPU the way I play unless 30-team control goes back to the pre-patch set-up.
