You can leave it on auto for ease of use, but you can't go to the training screen at all or else it will switch it back to manual. That could be why you weren't seeing much progression. I am currently experimenting with manual and so far it looks like I should get some good results. There is a whole thread on what each training assignment affects, but the gist of it all is to switch up assignments every so often. I am using a 15 game rotation cycle (3 times through the rotation for ease of memory). For pitching, there are three options. I am being simple by having my SP, RP and CP doing the same assignment and rotating it downward. For batting, I am trying to switch between cage, hitting coach, and weight lifting. Same kind of thing for fielding. I have no idea if this is the right way to go, but so far only D and F potential players, and a couple of C potential players that are rated really highly had decreases in progression.

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

Hopefully I can get an answer in here.....I'm in my 1st off-season in franchise and am aware that some fine-tuning needs to be done regarding making sure contracts are handled correctly to avoid too many FA's in 2013 or so. My question is, what players are a problem....what types of player contracts are causing too many FA's after a few seasons? I've looked thru several teams offers and signings and see no major issues, though I may be slighty ignorant regarding how much some of the non-star players should be making. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks....Pat

You have to make sure you only handle MLB lineups and rotations.

That isn't too much work after you send down the 15 players from the 40 man roster

          why aren't my sliders saving....

And how do I not get picked off so much...I stopped taking leads...turned down cpu picks, and on MOM ichiro got picked off ON a hit and run..I've looked at some threads...but anyone got a quick rundown...I just picked up 10. And I'm learning to pitch with relievers lol

does the cpu train ok? I don't wanna mess with training too much

AND WHY ON MOM DO MY RUNNERS TAKE OFF ON THEIR OWN!!! UGH. I can handle bunting for a base hit but stealing when I don't want them to...is very obnoxious

Just now...1st n 2nd nobody out top of 7 I'm down by a run, want to play for the big inning, what happens...the cpu makes my guy lay down a bunt! he beat it but still Id like to control this

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

Is there any kind of work around for the ridiculously high scoring games in RTTS? I've done fairly extensive research and there's no doubt that scores are MUCH higher when you actually play games in RTTS (as a position player) rather than simming them (every 4 days if you're a SP). I haven't played this game in a few months because of this. I tried to pick it back up today but it was 8-4 in the 6th inning again and I remembered why I hated this game so much.

Would slider settings possibly fix this?

There are never answers here. Hence the other thread. Anyway, this is my final post on on this topic (I know, I'm breaking everyone's heart). But I will say this...

This game has been good. But SCEA's lack of innovation is starting to show. They've had the exact same engine with many of the same problems for years. Nothing ground-breaking year after year. They need to take a look at EA's NHL series. Anyway, for those of you playing RTTS, if you can look past having every game a 12-10 shootout, then more power to you. RTTS is really the only mode I'm interested in playing on this game and eventually I found out that it sucks. So long MLB.

              Peace.

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

I have multiple characters in RTTS depending on what I am in the mood for and while there are a couple of high scoring games it is more of a rarity for me. I played for a few hours tonight and in the 12 games I was in the highest ending score was 8-2 and that was because of a grand slam late. It was the only home run of the game to. I have had more games stay 0-0 till the 7th or 8th on all my RTTS guys than I do blow outs unless it is like the Yankees vs the Tigers who are last place in one of my RTTS games. Highest score was a 15-14 game where everyone was just raking on the pitchers for both sides. Was such a fun game though as it seemed like just one of those games where the pitchers just didn't have it. Plus the ball was carrying better than normal due to the wind which on my sliders effects me quite a bit. I guess it just depends on what team you are on and how the cpu is on your game. I did have one RTTS guy where the first few games where high scoring but it could just be he was a catcher and I am horrible with calling out pitches. I would say up your difficulty and see if that helps.

                  1) I don't see that at all
                  2) Have you ever seen a minor league game? more errors, more pitchers developing with most only having 2 decent pitches...

I'm way late to the party but does anyone have a workaround for the free agent glitch in franchise/rtts? "a ton of A rated players not being signed"

I'm more interested in finding a fix for this in Rtts

                      RTTS?...not really.
Until they allow us to control all 30 teams in that mode....it's pretty much a CPU problem.
For regular franchise.....team budgets off.....30 team control....help the teams along during the team exclusive signing period or at the FA period.

                      Sorry.

Thanks for the quick answer knight.

Hopefully this is a non issue in next years game...I was holding out some hope they'd still fix it, but i'm assuming that's not happening this late.

oh man, learning about this FA glitch really blows, since i'm in RTTS and there seems to be no workaround. what a bummer...currently in year 3, so i'm guessing next season the bug is gonna bite ><

Hey I'm new here and I have a question. I'm wondering if there is a workaround to force another team to put a guy on waivers. I pretty much follow the real baseball schedule for my season and braves just made a trade for D.Lee. Since I'm using the braves I'd like to do the trade but Lee wasn't put on the waiver wire. Anyway to do that from my end? All my settings are set on Manuel.

Hopefully someone has an answer thanks

Did you start with 30 team control?
If not...it's going to be a bit more difficult.
You'll have to trade for Lee to your club then trade him to the Braves somehow.

Nope I control my team, cpu controls the other 29. The team I'm using is the Braves but Lee isn't on waivers. Just trying to see if there is something I could do to force Lee on the waivers list from the cubs. I tried editing the player to 0 to see if they put him and nothing happen
