    Primetimesambo, Jtkelly...

You guys have very good questions, but this is really not the thread to post them in.

I'd suggest doing a RTTS search, where hopefully you can get the help you need. This thread is more for finding fixes to programming mistakes.

Good luck, gentleman. I'd help if I knew the answers for guys, but I don't really play RTTS.

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

I have some questions. I did the 30 team franchise thing and I actually wanted to do the major free agents myself so I had all the profiles set on manual for free agency and contracts. I also did arbitration offers for all 30 teams. However now it's the deadline for renewing contracts and I have some major problems. First off, I see no way to see minor league stats. That seems odd that I can't check out how my prospects performed last year, all I can go on is ratings and the potential grade. The second problem is that I didn't turn the non Tiger profiles to auto for Free agency and contracts. I did an experiment where I did turn them to auto and then simmed the day. Unfortunately they did not make offers to anyone that was renewable, so guys like Brett Gardner and Clay Bucholz are suddenly free agents. Luckily I was experimenting so I went back to my previous save from the deadline day. So I guess I have to go through and manually offer all the guys who have renewable contracts. The problem is I can't see what they made last year to know what 80% or more of their previous contract is. Can I offer them all 1 yr 30k contracts since that technically is an offer and then come February when the renewal deadline is, I can try and offer bigger deals and the CPU will tell me if it's not 80% or above?? This is a huge issue and I'm waiting right now before I go forward. I went ahead and offered all the renewable guys the 1 yr 30k contract just in case (boy was that a chore). If this isn't going to work, is their a site somewhere that might have a listing of all the MLB the Show 2010 contracts? I'm just using the PS3 standard rosters with the September update. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not at my game right now...
But when you are looking at the stats pages...the R buttons cycle through the MLB/AAA/AA stats. I don't know if they get erased at seasons end for the minors though. Plus...at this stage of the game, the stats the player amassed during the previous season has very little(if any) to do with contracts. It's all ratings and potential, so you are on a very even keel with what the CPU would be offering anyway.
On the second note...you will have to give the CPU more than one day to offer any kind of contract or arbitration. I actually find it much easier to work the reverse of yourself. I give the CPU the contract duties and simply go in each day...cycle through and either offer or remove contract offers to players I want to see either signed...or not signed by certain teams.
But...since you have the franchise set the other way around...I would suggest working off of their(agent/player) proposal to the team(what they are asking for) rather than trying to work it from the ground up.

Thanks for the advice. Yes in the offseason they minor league stats disappear. It just shows zeros across the board for guys who didn't get any major league stats.

As for the contract offers, yeah unfortunately I only have one day at this point because of previous save spots. I'll definately try your way for my 2nd offseason. My other issue with this though is that lots of the young players that have a big rookie or 2nd season are asking for big multi year deals. Now if they aren't going to be arbitration eligible for a while there is no incentive, other than goodwill to lock the guy up quite yet. A couple season later? Sure, lock up a good young player with a long term deal. They trade security for dollars. Happens all the time. But it makes no sense to lock up Jason Jaso with a long term deal after his rookie year, like he's requesting from Tampa Bay (he beat out Austin Jackson for rookie of the year thanks for Jackson missing 2 months with an injury).

Ahhh..yeah, I see what you mean. That's why I like to see the CPU offers....then step in and adjust. The guy either accepts my lower offers(if it's arbitration...he's kind of stuck....if it's FA market...I lower all the offers equal across the board unless I really want to see someone with a particular team.

As a matter of fact lets stop call it the "2013 free agent" glitch to the "training" glitch..LOL..
I am early in a franchise and using this method, but I am noticing that my players are all regressing. I read somewhere that the players all regress during the season and then progress in the offseason, is that correct? I just want to make sure my players (and the rest of the league's) aren't going to regress and start sucking more quickly than normal because nobody is training...

Yes...this is "normal" and will happen in season regardless if you trained(or the CPU does for it's teams) or not. The progression is all in off season and will still happen without training.

I turned free agents back to auto and wasn't happy with the results. The CPU had no logic to it's offers. The Cardinals ended up with both Jimmy Rollins and Jose Reyes at SS (one will play 2nd I guess). Teams that had no need for a closer kept tossing money at Billy Wagner. For some unknown reason several teams kept trying to give Troy Glaus seven million dollars to hit .230 and get injured for them. Other guys that got offers from teams that already had their position filled were Orlando Hudson and Orland Cabrera. And I kept canceling their offers only to see them reoffer it the next day. I finally switched back to manual again.

Good news is my workaround worked for renewals. By taking the time (LONG time) to offer everyone on all 30 teams 1 yr 30k deals, when it came to the renewal day deadline in Feb. I was then able to see what their last year salary was and offer 80% and up accordingly. Still don't understand why they wouldn't have that info available the entire offseason though.

im controlling all 30 teams. the offseason is a huge pain in my arse, made worse by the fact that no matter how long i re-sign a player for, he will be unsigned again the next off-season. this seriously makes my nuts ache because im making all the decisions for all 30 teams. is there any reason this is happening? maybe its my fault. ill sign a player to a 10 year deal, but he'll be off contract again the next year. help please.

                        Send me the franchise file.
I don't think I've ever had a player go back to FA after signed to a long term deal.

I'm having a problem with my 30 team franchise. I just finished my first season and have gone into the off-season and had no problems making trades between teams during the season. But now that I'm in the off-season, all of my trade attempts are rejected immediately. I've been using 2 different profiles with manual setting on for Trade, Roster management etc.. Never had any problems until I went into the off-season. I've tried setting all teams to No Profile, and then set the global settings all to manual. But every trade is rejected right away. Does anyone know if this is normal or is this a known issue?
