I think the idea of having an invisible meter is interesting, but at the same time, I'm not sure that would satisfy you either. Meter gives you too much control, classic not enough, so what's the solution.
Anytime you add something like a pitching meter to a game, you have to make a compromise between realism and gameplay. If using the meter made Marmol very inaccurate, what would be the point of going through the bother of the meter? Why not just use classic?
The other thing is that the pitching indicator is going to make you more accurate. You may feel that it's more realistic, but the gameplay reality is that the indicator has always made it easier to hit your spots. Combine that with a good feel for the meter and a fastball with little movement, and no wonder you can pinpoint with Marmol.
It would be nice if you could hide the meter or if the sliders affected the variability more, but it seems like you're looking for classic pitching results with a meter mechanic. I think those two things are inherently at odds with each other.
