Re: Video of pinpoint accurate meter pitching with Carlos Marmol

I think the idea of having an invisible meter is interesting, but at the same time, I'm not sure that would satisfy you either. Meter gives you too much control, classic not enough, so what's the solution.

Anytime you add something like a pitching meter to a game, you have to make a compromise between realism and gameplay. If using the meter made Marmol very inaccurate, what would be the point of going through the bother of the meter? Why not just use classic?

The other thing is that the pitching indicator is going to make you more accurate. You may feel that it's more realistic, but the gameplay reality is that the indicator has always made it easier to hit your spots. Combine that with a good feel for the meter and a fastball with little movement, and no wonder you can pinpoint with Marmol.

It would be nice if you could hide the meter or if the sliders affected the variability more, but it seems like you're looking for classic pitching results with a meter mechanic. I think those two things are inherently at odds with each other.

what this video tells me is
      A. you have terrible taste in music
      B. The pitch control slider matters more than the consistancy slider

The pitching meter SHOULD yield realistic pitching results, I should be able to walk people. A well placed fastball is the best pitch in baseball, and you can do that in this game whenever you like to. There is just no excuse for that in a baseball SIMULATOR.

Carlos Marmol couldn't throw his fastball where he wanted to if his life depended on it. I saw this stat in one of the in-game stats that Marmol hit the 3rd most batters last season. He is the only RELIEVER on that list, he has very very little control.

I think at the present time, we deserve a pitching interface that realistically simulates pitching that ISN'T basically the pitching system from High Heat.
I dont know who you use, but as far as what I have done so far i can miss just by the tiniest fraction on the meter and have had fastballs clear out of the zone.

Pitch control ONLY increases/decreases meatball pitches.
