Whoa. Seems really low to me but what do I know?

I have them up right now and I have Contact at 6, Power at 8 and Timing at 8.

I'm not crushing the ball by any means. I guess I just suck.

I don't strike out a lot though. Even with all the sliders defaulted at 5.

Yea i was talking about the solid hits slider at three. I have contact 5, power 7, timing 7...seeing decent homers, and singles..not enough doubles or triples.. but to me that seems to be a product of the cpu outfield getting to everything. i havent hit many no-doubt gappers tho.

hmm interesting about the TV stuff, I have a sumsung 52 inch LCD as well. Also, why does it say to play the game in 720p on the start screen? Is it really that much better than 1080p? also, i cant hit either, just on rookie. i tried moving pitch speed down a notch but i actually did worse. I cant see how ppl can even begin to move the PCI in the right place and get contact. Im playing a videogame exactly BECAUSE I cant hit a 90mph fastball =P maybe ill try moving pitch speed all the way down

If you keep reading page 4 in explains how to influence the hit ball: Influence Fly Ball............right analog stick up, Influence Ground ball.......etc....

Since you're hitting on veteran mode you don't need to move the left analog stick at all since it is a timing only mode, no need to worry about where in the zone you are swinging. But basically what another poster said, once you move above Veteran, turn PCI on. This gives you an visual oval showing where in the zone you are aiming the swing. You must hold it in the zone to swing in that area, not sure why the manual says to release.

Ok, to clarify, Rookie is and Veteran can be timing only, while All-Star and above is not.

It's good to see I'm not the only one that sucks at hitting.

I've bumped up contact and timing and turned pitch speed all the way down, I have pitching difficulty on rookie and change it to veteran when I'm pitching. I'll turn PCI on and see if that makes a difference.

My first RTTS season in AA my batting average was .232, AAA .276 (which isn't too bad). I thought I was improving when after 4 games in year 2 AA my average was .385, but now I've slumped to .222. I had 5 hits out of 13 ab to start and have gone 6 from 37 to be 11 hits out of 50 ab. I've been struck out 14 times as well. I've played 12 games.

I just can't judge the pitches, wild pitches are killing me!

You might try what I did .... leave your ego at the door, and just keep dropping difficulties and upping sliders until you are hitting like you expect to hit.

I'm now at Veteran hitting (played on All-Star last year), with Guess Pitch, and with Contact up to +5. That Contact number is key, as it gives me the check swings I need to hold up on pitches that I start to chase.

On harder difficulties, I was consistently taking strikes and swinging at balls ... not good for hitting!!

I will make the sliders/difficulty harder as I get better. If I get better.

                  ...............
EDIT ... just noticed you are playing RTTS... that explains a lot. Your player does not have good ratings, so you are going to be especially prone to have difficulties holding up your swing. And your power and contact ratings are probably not very good.

Struggling with hitting to begin with + playing a newb RTTS player = big problems.

                    Helpful hint for those struggling-

Change your hitting camera angle to "High". I have noticed that this angle picks up the break of the ball much better than the standard catcher angle, and have more time to move/react the PCI through the zone.

If you were a fan of MVP baseball, this camera angle is the closest to duplicating the MVP "feel" and pitch vision when hitting.

Lol I should have got more practice in before I started RTTS.

I'm performing better in Franchise for obvious reasons, in RTTS my contact is 60 and power 59 so I can see why that would be a factor.

I have Guess Pitch on and my contact slider is all the way up but I'm still struggling. I should get some more practice in before I resume my RTTS I suppose.

Wow setting my TV to 'game' mode made a HUGE difference, it feels like i have way more time to sit on the ball now. Im pretty sure this wasnt just placebo. Although I was playing GoW3 all day so my reaction time might have been better =P It took forever to figure out how to do it though, it looks like its only available through a button on the remote and not just like through navigating the menus. I have a 52inch samsung LCD.

I played like 2 or 3 games since I changed the setting in RTTS and I got my first RBI (on a double) and first walk.

If this is really a big issue, why dont they add a synchronize setting like the music games have? =/

Thanks guys for all the tips. I managed to put up 8 runs last night with the A's, which was pretty impressive (at least by my standards)

That helped, and so did slowing the pitch speed... thank you

I hit a lot of solid gappers with the bigger bats like Arod and Teixeria (Yeah, I have a Yanks franchise) but HR's have been an issue.

Then again, I'm used to my top guys smashing 60 HR's in video games so maybe this game is actually pretty well tuned after all. Right now, I have Arod on pace for about 39 dingers.
