I enjoy playing each game as well. It does take a long time but it helps pass the time waiting for the next iteration of the Show to come out. I played 09 all the way until MLB 10 came out and the wait didnt seem that long.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
I play every game. To me, just worrying about front office stuff and simming games is kinda boring....
In fact, I'm going season only this year. I did the franchise thing last year, but as in-depth as it was, it became too cumbersome worrying about drafts, minor league lineups, releasing/signing players, etc.
I've read this year multiple seasons are possible. So that's my intention.Comment

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
Early in the season I will play probably one game a series. Although I always enter every single game because the set lineups always get screwed up, which annoys the hell out of me. Havent played franchise this year though, so don't know if the set lineups actually get used. A lot of times I will manually set the lineups and then sim to the last inning or two and play the remaining game if it's close. For those of you who love the GM aspect of the game, I suggest checking out Baseball Mogul or Strat-O-Matic baseball. Highly recommended.Comment

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
Like most of you I have played OOTP extensively and The Show for quite some time and simming is the way to go on both games.
While there is some fun in attempting to play 162 games and know all the stats on the year are yours, at the end of the day to me it's more fun to see my team develop over 5 years than trying to essentially replicate one mlb season.
OOTP is king when it comes to franchise control, but as someone said earlier there's something hollow in not ever seeing these players that you brought up for years and years to grow into a star and never get the chance to swing the bat with him one time. The Show offers a comparable experience and gives you that chance to play the field with these guys. (lol some of the OOTP guys sometimes get reincarnated in The Show for me)
That's what it really comes down for me. So yeah I sim quite a bit in fact, it's more of a challenge to my GM skills to assemble a team that won't fall apart just because I let the "coach" run things for a few weeks at a time. It makes getting to the postseason even more accomplished because you know you didn't just "will" them into the playoffs.Last edited by lilbiggio; 03-25-2010, 01:49 PM.Comment

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
I like to manage and be GM, as well. So...I play all 162 games as quick as I can. This is usually very difficult and sometimes time consuming, but my lady understands my love for sports games. It helps that she plays PS3 as well. Plus, she likes baseball. I do not have the patience like some of you to hit on my own. It is wayyyyyyy too frustrating. Sitting back and managing for a lil over an hour per game is gratifying.

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
This is what I do a lot of the time. Before the game, I pick a couple innings to pitch and typically bat in all of them. I like to play a lot of the games (at least 50%), but at roughly 70-90 minutes a full game, I wouldn't be able to accomplish that if I played every single inning (pitching and hitting).I've been digging the fast forward feature for all the pitching...it just hasn't grabbed me this year. I can play a game in roughly 20-30 minutes if I only bat. I only play like every third or fourth game, so seasons go by pretty quick but I still feel like I contributed to the final record.
This game is just too good to look at and too fun to play for me to sim all of the time."Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.”Comment

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
I play every sixth game (and any interesting ones). Doing so allows me to pitch my rotation in order but actually get through a few seasons.Comment

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
I will occasionally play a series completely, but normally I will sportcast and only pitch when i need to enter with a guy from the bullpen. By Sportcasting most of the game I can remain in control and play several games in a night.David P
Thank you SCEA, for adopting my ideas for a Playoff feature and eventually an 'online franchise'. No credit needed to be given... I am just happy you are working towards it...Comment

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
i sim just about every game, except maybe opening day to see my new players in uniform, the all-star game, maybe the futures game occasionally, the homerun derby if any of my players make it, and maybe the last 3 games of the season, if any of my players have a chance at a record or a milestone of some sort (which also applies for during the season as well)
then i play the playoff games, mostly just the ones that count, and then the final game of the world series, often i'll purposely lose some games just to get to game 7, lolR.I.P. Rory Markas, Nick Adenhart and Tyler Skaggs

Re: Anyone Sim like I do?
Simming like crazy is nothing I was never big on. I liked accumulating 162 games of stats. It was always such a whirlwind.
Anyways, playing 162 games simply is no longer an option. I have a 29-game season with the Giants I plan to play every game of, and once the OS rosters are out I plan to try a play every 6th game franchise.
I feel like with a lot of simming you just can't get a good feel for your team.Comment
