    ...or Forbes Field !

I always use the right stick to influence every at-bat. sometimes, I will press for opposite field+ground ball ( 5:00 or 7:00 on R-Stick )
and sometimes the hit will be a line drive into the gaps.

    or
I use the SQUARE button alot as well, and R-Stick (2:00 or 10:00 ) and if you get a hold of one into the gaps, over the head of an OF, man, that is a sweet hit

    cheers!

played on all star default last night and banged out three doubles...alot of laser beams tho. alot of the slider sets have solid hits at zero..maybe thats not the way to go for my skill level. seems like the default slider guys are hitting the ball all over the yard, instead of the singles and homers ive been getting.

I'm seeing a nice mixture in all the Exhibition games I've played.

I play on HOF and though there have been games where I don't have doubles, I still see a nice variety. Last night I only had 6 hits and lost 8-2 but I had 3 doubles.

Thinking more and more of just going to default. Thinking its the reduced solid hits thats causing the lack of doubles

It all depends on when you are making contact with the pitches, and where in the strikezone they are. If you are always on perfect timing and the pitches are in the center of the plate, you'll typically either line a single up the middle, or jack a homerun. Many of my doubles have come on balls hit in the gap when I make solid contact, but my timing is slightly off so I either hit it to the opposite field gap, or in the pull field gap. Either that, or there will be a ball on the outside corner and I'll drill it off the end of the bat and it goes flying by the first baseman. The variety of hits in this year's game are leaps and bounds above what I saw last year, and I'm loving it.

Same here. My doubles and extra base hits totals have increased this year. I play on All Star default sliders. I think by upping solid hits, the ball might be reaching the fielder quicker. I would keep that at default. Not sure if that makes any sense.

My first game after mentioning that I hadn't hit a triple this version and I managed to get two in one game from Lowell and JD Drew. Not bad.

Both came because of ridiculous decisions to dive at the ball by Twins outfielders, mind.

For those that are having trouble hitting triples try playing with a fast lefty batter at Petco Park. I'm doing a fantasy draft chise as San Diego and I have Ichiro. The right center gap in Petco is so cavernous that Ichiro gets stand up triples pretty much anytime he splits the outfielders in that direction. I don't have my game up to see how many he has, but he's gotta be on pace for 30 for the season. This is on All Star btw.

I have been seeing a good variety of hits, I usually use a variety of contact swings and power swings depending on situations. I am not sure whether using the power button actually increases doubles but I believe it does.

Playing on default All-Star (other than the pitch speed slider) I'm four games into my season and I must have 15 doubles as a team. Nate McClouth has five by himself.

I've only got one homer so far, but I hit a few in exhibition games, so I'm sure those will come.

Yeah. Like in real life, homeruns seem to come in bunches. I'll go through a stretch where my timing is just off and I either foul off the good pitches, or hit a lot of sharp ground balls. But then I'll go through a period where if the pitcher puts anything over the plate, the ball will end up needing to find its passport. It just think that's awesome. The stats in this game are so good. If you tweak the sliders just right you'll see some great, realistic numbers. When playing an exhibition game tonight against the Red Sox, Burnett had 118 pitches through 6.2 innings of work. It was great. I remember when High Heat was the only game that had realistic pitch counts and realistic homerun totals.

                      God I love this game.

i think the hit variety is far superior in mlb 10 than mlb 09.

in 09 if you had a player who was 25 power vs. rhp and lhp, you would be lucky to get it out of the infield let alone a solid hit,

in 10, you can actually get doubles and what not with bad power people.

                        its a welcome change

My last 6 games all my runs have come from Homeruns. And my only hits are singles or home runs.

I play on Hall of Fame pitching and hitting. I have solid hits down to 2, contact & timing down to 3 and power reduced to 4 ...

When my sliders were at default I was getting a much larger range of hits, I was just getting too many of 'em. I musta been getting 15 hits plus per game.

yea tonka, im in the same boat. if i lower my solid hits, i only hit singles or homers...if i raise it, i see a much larger variety, but im knockin the cover off the ball.

It may not be as much to do with hitting sliders, or hitting at all, as you think.

Check this thread on Outfielder Alignment issues.

I play with Rookie hitting, pulling anything middle-in and go opposite field middle-away. I use the below settings, and get a good mix of hits. My RTTS righty 3B (Angels) has 19 homers, 18 doubles and one triple among his 100 or so hits. My RTTS lefty 1B (Fresno) has 22 doubles and 16 homers (no triples - slow) in his 120+ hits. My 3B has 81 contact, 86 power and 90 speed, my 1B 70 contact and 80 power.

I know Pitch speed at zero and timing at ten seems easy, but with pitch speed at zero there is a huge difference in a 90 mph heater and a 75 mph change.
